White House Enraged By AIG Bonuses---CNN Video

Can someone please explain to me why this is such a big deal?

Anonymous said...

Why what is a big deal?

That AIG is giving bonuses?

Or that people are Enraged over the bonuses?

Anonymous said...

Because it's our taxpayer money going to bailout these wreckless idiots and then they go take that money and give themselves bonuses. If you are not outraged then you either don't pay taxes or you don't care how your money is spent.

Anonymous said...

Why is it a big deal that these companies are giving out such big bonuses? It is THEIR money right?

Danny Dildine said...

I thought Mr Obama was going to have this under control?

Anonymous said...

Usually bonuses are paid on meeting performance goals..The AIG bonus structure must have been based on how much money they can scarf up from the American taxpayer!! There is NO WAY any REAL performance objectives could have been met by these folks. Shame on them.

Anonymous said...

It is TAXPAYER $$ that is being spent to give bonuses. If it were not for us taxpayers, there would be no AIG anymore. Should be no bonuses with our money!

Anonymous said...

I think it's my turn to get some bailout money. Then I can give myself a nice vacation at someone else's expense. Is anyone at the helm down there in Washington??
A (arrogance) I (ignorance) G (gaul). It's time for a tea party again.

Anonymous said...

Save the outrage and forget it, nothing ever changes. So, on a lighter note, yes little person, ignore and go about your own business.

Anonymous said...

I hope they find a way to stop the bonuses..granted, the millions are a 'drop in the bucket' to the billions of taxpayer money these idiots have, but I'll take all the "drops in the bucket" we can get at this point! NO bonuses until every dime of taxpayer bailout has been returned - with interest! And everyone should care about how our tax payer $$ are spent!

Anonymous said...

I am horribly offended by all this my father is a hard working man at AIG and worked really hard to get his bonuses. I have been a really good son all my life and I almost didn't get my Audi R8 for my high school graduation gift. Now I know a lot of you people don't understand what it is like to have a lot money, but it is not as easy as you think. I thank the lord everyday for the bailout because without it my entire life would be over. Do you know how it feels inside to be 18 and know that if you don't get your dream car your life is over? So please be thankful like I am for the bailout.

Anonymous said...

See I don't believe that the have used any of the bailout money for bonuses. I think that they just used the money they already had for that, then used the bailout money for other things.

Anonymous said...

Audi R8 - good one! hee hee. To the person above, if they used the money they already had, they wouldn't have needed a bailout. They had no money, they were bankrupt for crying out loud!! The little guy looses his home if he can't make his payments, the big guy just holds out his hand and takes from the rest of us. Wonderful system we have.

Anonymous said...

I love our system sorry your poor or you would love it too.

Anonymous said...

They had money for the bonuses. Just nothing more than that. That's why they needed the handout.

I mean GF

I don't understand why everyone is complaining so much now is the best time ever to be rich everything is on sale and you can save even more money I think it is great. I am sorry for those of you who make little or no Internet moneys but us rich people need you poor people so cheer up we won't let all of you drown.

What is a GF??

Well spoken, and very true. The working class is led around by the nose while the rich get richer. Your all puppets, accept it and move on! OR you can do something about it by voicing your oppinion. AIG and the rest should have been let to go bankrupt. Now don't start throwing the crap they feed us on the news about how if they failed it would have collapsed the whole country. It's natural, it's what needs to happen, it's long overdue. We'll survive, always have. If you do the math on the population of the US and the amout of the bailout it comes to around $3000 for every man woman and child. If you did give the money to each person (not counting career welfare, prisoners, etc.) it would be a lot more than that. WE would stimulate the economy, reduce our debts, let AIG fail, problem solved.

Anonymous said...

it goes without saying why people are upset. this should warrant no further comment.
put it to rest.

4:24 PM:

Why would you not give the money to those on welfare too? Are they not the ones that need it the most? I don't know when our country went from helping the tired and poor to screwing the poor.

Solomon's words for the wise said...

I believe that was in the last couple of years when the middle class became the poor, thanks to the
oil people and the government.
Jim

Anonymous said...

I can agree to half that statement Jim. I feel that over the last decade the middle class have not got the pay increase they deserve, but they have also really abused credit which in the end made them poor as well.

Anonymous said...

Twas the government's own fault for not having any oversight on the money they gave away. Same ole, Same ole.

Rep. Chick said...

Our government is still a joke, no change there!

Does not matter what party you claim to be, no change there!

Our new Pres has handed out our hard earned tax dollars AGAIN with no accountability or strict enough guide lines for how it was to be used, no change there!

What was all this talk of change?

Guess I am still waiting for, you guessed it, CHANGE!

Anonymous said...

YES WE CAN !!!
YES WE CAN !!!

Anonymous said...

To Rep. Chick:
I disagree with you. The government and country has and is changing, just in the WRONG DIRECTION! Thanks to Obama it's going to get MUCH WORSE!

Anonymous said...

Leave it to the Republicans to start blaming Obama. I knew this would happen! The Republicans under George W. Bush are the ones who deregulated all the banks. Bush is the one who started the bailout. Don't blame Obama for trying to clean up the mess left by 8 or so years of a Republican president and a Republican majority congress!

Anonymous said...

Bush wasn't the one using billions of dollars in taxpayers money to bail out companies who then are allowed to abuse it by paying themselves big bonuses. I believe Obama alone gets the credit for that brilliant idea! It's going to be a LOOOOOOOOOOONG 4 years.

Anonymous said...

I am pretty sure Bush did hand out the money to freddy mac fannie mae completely unregulated at least Obama will hold the accountability to those that get bail out money. YES WE CAN YES WE CAN !!

Anonymous said...

Yeah I am almost positive that Bush was handing bail out money may want to check with the voices in your head on that comment. You all amaze me truly. You blame for Republicans for Bush and the Democrates for Obama. When will you all pick up on the idea that no one is doing this job right. Both parties are to blame for certain amounts. And how the republicans can still defend Bush is beyond me. The man left the office the richest president in history, while his country entered a recession. It just amazes me that you (being seemingly intellegent people for the most part) Can't see past that fact. It's the same finger pointing game in Washington that is slowing our country down.

Anonymous said...

The problem is out of touch small town hicks and rednecks want to blame Obama less than 100 days in to his administration. The fact is nobody actually knows if what he is trying will work out yet. If you want to say what his administration has done in 4 years from now has failed that is one thing. It is a different story if you are some country bumpkin posting stupid ass remarks about how you know he is leading the country in the wrong direction and he hasn't even been in office for a year. Bush had 8 years to jack things up lied about 9/11 got us into a war that we can't win. Let his buddies get rich of the war we can't win. What a great guy he was but I am sure you will defend him to the end because he was a good christian man.

Anonymous said...

3:59-3/17 poster. Except the part about the country bumpkins(cause that doesn't speak for the majority)You are absolutely right!!It's easy to point fingers now , but give Obama a chance! 80 days vs. 8 years ! Even if John F. Kennedy were here ,it would take some time to straighten this mess out! Call me optimistic , but anythings gotta be better than a Chaney or a BUSHWACKER!! Brad

Rep. Chick said...

The change we so need is not to keep blaming either party!

The change we so need is accountability of our elected officials and the receivers of our tax dollars.

The change we so need is to cut down the size of our government, limit the years of service for ALL elected officials. Cut back on these officials benefits that they regulate for us. If they had to play by the same rules as the tax payers they would think twice before being sucked in by the lobbiests!

Stricter regulations of our welfare system and STOP allowing the illegal aliens to drain our social security and medicare programs.

Only until we get a handle on these mentioned problems we have with our government will there really be change. And I am talking about both parties not just the Dem's or the Rep's...

Anonymous said...

Dodd approved it, said he didn't , now admitts he did. Give them the bonus, they are only taking what was pre-approved. Oh, that's right the country is up in arms about it so the Dems decided they better be too.

Anonymous said...

Rep Chick BLAH BLAH BLAH do you ever shut up? The illegal aliens are not draining our social security and medicare programs people like you are. The illegal aliens are keeping this country running by doing the jobs Americans think they are too good to do. Where the hell was the accountability under your boys administration?????? You are a joke HAHAHA!!!

Ash '007

Well as you can see the clear difference between Democrats and Republicans is that the Dems are willing to admit they are wrong and change.

"Responding quickly to public outrage over the bonuses after the giant insurer received government bailouts of up to $180 billion, the House voted 328-93 to approve a 90 percent tax on bonuses for some executives at companies getting federal aid."

That would NEVER happened under a Republican controlled administration like for example Katrina, Iraq, 9/11, Record energy company profits, record gas prices, Environment, and the overused and over-deployed Military.

Just saying

"I am talking about both parties not just the Dem's or the Rep's"...guess either you can not read or comprehend, either way you just keep making an ass of yourself via your posts!
