Energy Pool Being Formed For Lower Power Rates

Anonymous said...

So glad I work out of my home as far as my electric bill goes.

It is scary to think just how much my electric bill would be if I were home those 9 hours of the day!

It is just hard to believe that on my last bill I was charged 83.83 for the amount of electric used by Penelec but my total bill is $179.68!

Customer charge $7.98
Distribution charge $65.14
total distribution $73.12
for the use of their these rates penelec should have all new equipment!

Customer education charge .18 cents, just how did they educate me this month?

Transition charge 5.68 to cover their standard cost set by the P.U.C..
Generation charge 83.83 charges for the production of the kwh I used.
Transmission service charge 14.23, for moving high voltage electricity from a generating facility to the distribution lines.
The state did give me a tax surcharge credit of .36cents!

OMG a $180 dollar electric bill, my penelec bill never exceeds 60 dollars, what do you leave every light on in the house 24/7

Nope, in fact hardly ever turn on more than 2 lamps in the living room evenings!

My electric bills are now more than ever and the kids are grown and moved out! And we have a relatively new home, less than 10 years old with all energy efficient appliances and "green" light bulbs to boot!

Go figure!

Do you have electric heat, electric hw tank, electric range?

You definitely have something that really sucks power. I live in a 4 bedroom, 2 story house with two TV's and 3 computers and the electric bill is never more than $120 to $130.

No electric heat, radiant with outdoor wood boiler & propane backup, electric pumps though. No hot water tank but holding tanks with the radiant heat system w/8 zones and thermostat usually set at 68 degrees as it is usually 2 to 4 degrees warmer than set.

No electric range, propane gas Jenn-Air for cooking, electric oven.

I am not using any more electric now than I was a year ago...their (distribution)rates for the use of their equipment keep going up, darn near 1/2 of my bill each month.
This month Dist. $73.12 vs. elect used $83.83.

You might want to have someone check your circuits with an amprobe to see if your usage is balanced on each side of your 240v line, or if something is drawing excessive current in your system because of a partial short or leakage.

Do other penelec customers pay such a large amount each month for their distribution charge on their bills?

This looks alittle high to me.
