Foot Bridge Across Allegheny River Proposed At East Street In Coudersport

Foot Bridge Across River Proposed
Photo & story by Lou Karija

Chris Ernst of E and M Engineering in Bradford measures bridge abutments while Ace Hardware owner Mike Wagner looks on.

Mike aproached Coudersport council at last months meeting to see if it were possible to construct a walk bridge across the Allegheny river at East street. Boro officials met at the site with Pa. DEP and Potter Conservation Dist. , E and M Engineers and Mr. Wagner to discuss any concerns.

Mike Wagner offered to pay for a large portion of the cost to build the bridge, Mike also mentioned possibly dedicating the bridge in his fathers honor the late "Jim Wagner." All representatives had a positive outlook and believe the project is possible.

Chris Ernst said he would have a proposal to the Borough within a week.

Way to go Mike, your father was well known and a very liked citizen of Ulysses...this would make a great senior project for any Northern Potter High school student to get in on!

Mike is great! Don't have anything to say about Karija - he likes it to be all about him! Waste of the Borough's money.

Take donations....Leave the Borough's and County money alone..We have an economic crises going on right now and you all want to continue to spend money..Take donations..This is a great idea but find funding another way....

I agree, this county is in bad enough fiscal shape as it is. If you cannot get funding from the lazy ass people that cant walk a couple off extra blocks, and I use the term blocks very loosely in this community, then the project should be scrapped or put on the back burner until the county can stop seeing red.

"Reputation is what people think about you. Character is what people know you are." Karija should think long and hard about this quote. He really likes himself!

Use the $$$ to keep the pool open!

I've worked with Lou mny times and he always seemed to have Coudy's best interest at heart ! Maybe the last 5 posters didn't catch the part about Mike paying for the majority of the project in memory of his dad , Jim ! Just take a little Pork out of the stimulus bill to finish the deal and help the pool!If you don't spend the money , someone else will!! Brad Jones

"this county is in bad enough fiscal shape as it is" This will only be the case as long as idiots like some of you people keep running around like Chicken Little spouting these words. The only reason there is a recession is because there are a bunch of "know it all" people in the government and media that are telling Americans there is a recession. Demand for goods has not decreased, but supply has because companies have all reacted to this crap and cut production and laid off workers....which, in turn drives up prices.

This last poster is a real genius. Not having the jobs or goods while demand remains the same is pretty much what a recession is Einstein

Does your train of thought have a caboose?

Lou is a good guy. I've known him for about 10 years and he has always been very community oriented. Wish we had a lot more people like him.

People need to exercise the Golden Rule on this blog. Furthermore, I wish more people would take my grandmother's advice and not say anything if they don't have something good to say.
