PA DEP Publishes List Of Fracking Chemicals Used In Natural Gas Drilling

DEP Reveals Fracking Chemicals
Responding to concerns about gas drilling, DEP officials on Friday published a list of fracking chemicals on the agency's website for the first time, under the heading "Summary of Hydraulic Fracture Solutions."

Drillers and Fracking Companies have previously refused to divulge this information to the public until now.

With all the problems involved in this process, it's about time we know what's being forced into these wells.

Don't forget the materials that are unearthed and drawn to the surface when they recover the water that's blasted into the deep, deep down shale: radon, brine and who knows what else will be pulled up to the earth's surface where it was not supposed to be according to the Natural Order of things!

Funny that they are all idiots but people don't mind heating their house or business with natural gas. Where do all of you genius' think it comes from? God forbid this county tries to explore for an abundant, clean burning and domestic energy source. This fracking process is nothing new as it is portrayed to be. This has been going on in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisianna and other parts of the United States for years. It is a small group of people that are opposed to anything and everything associated with progress and industry making all the noise. The people in this area (and PA as a whole) need to wake up and realize the opportunity that has finally arrived.

Don't destroy what we have here while exploring for gas!! Peoples safety has to come first!

Lets see...from the DEP website I see some of these as ingredients of frack solution: Hydrochloric acid, several blends of alcohol, Petroleum distillate blend, Potassium hydroxide, Boric oxide, Ethelyne Glycol,(anti-freeze type) Polyethelyne Glycol mixture, Boric acid, Dazomet, which is a herbicide to kill fungis. The list goes on.

I tried telling you people that fracking was a bad method months ago, but everyone bashed my opinions. Now I finally get to say it!!!

I TOLD YOU SO!!!!!!!

Wake up and save the the Earth!!

The IDIOTS I was refering to aren't the company's exploring for gas.You wanted a list of what could be used in a frack job,you got it.Too bad you can't interpret what you read and understand it.You think this is all new to this area?It all started here.Hope you all like high prices and dependency on the Middle East.Nothing is perfect people, but regulating it away is not going to solve the problem facing this country.Lead, follow,or get the ****out of the way!

It is a good thing you people are in the miniority. If you had your way,we would have the most pristine country in the world that ceased to exist!

You are so right!

And they probable own "lots" probable an acre or two, not 100's of acres like the rest of us do...that's right, I forgot,"money for me" is their cry...forgetting just who has been financially responsible for this pristine land, not them that is for damn sure! Use their neighbors land "free of charge" and then bitch about them behind their backs, that is a good little neighbor now isn't it?

Sounds about right!

Despite the ignorant individuals who post comments on here in support of private property owners rights (no matter what), the vast majority of property owners in Potter County are wise stewards of the land and these few blowhards do not speak for them.
Most people do care about the environment and recognize the sinfulness of despoiling or poisoning the earth for future generations.
Environmental stewardship is addressed in the Holy Bible.
If that timeless document is held up against the U.S. Constitution ("my constitutional right to permanently poison the land and too bad if it inflitrates into my neighbors land"), I know which document I will respect more.
God bless all of those who respect the sacred calling for environmental stewardship.

You seem to enjoy the constitutional right to thump the good book in public. But,you don't seem to understand that this country's ability to survive is the reason you can.It is a pretty short fall from the cliff this country sits on today to becomming someplace that those rights don't exist. We either find a way to be energy self-sufficent or we will be burning our books to stay warm!

Agree with you 100%!

By the time obama and the congress get done, we will be lucky to be able to afford matches to start a fire to keep warm.

Do you guys drink out of plastic containers? If your concerned with the chemicals that are used in fracking then read up on the contents of plastic.....or cigerette butts....or car emmisions. I bet none of you guys will stop sucking down a 20oz, after each smoke, while driving home from work. And are you really so stupid that you think Obama is out there a few months into his term saying "hey guys you know what, lets really throw em through a loop" 8:11 you are officially an idiot. you can't blame for Obama for anything until he starts a war, makes all of his friends rich, and makes us poor. wait a sec, didn't the last president do that....what was his name again?
