Truck-Lite Rumor Is Completely Untrue

More Local Layoffs

Truck-Lite Lets Go 28 More Employees, Adding To 120 Already Laid Off

The Post Journal
By Dennis Phillips dphillips@post-journal.com

FALCONER - Three salary and 25 hourly employees were laid off from Truck-Lite last week, adding to the already 120 employees the company has laid off since the beginning of December.

Greg Certo, Truck-Lite human resources director, said the company has been laying off workers, like many companies, because of the slowdown in the national economy.

''The work reduction is a response to the downturn in the economy,'' he said. ''Sales are slower than budgeted or we planned for.''

Certo did say the rumor that Truck-Lite is closing down operations in Falconer is completely untrue.

''We are certainly not closing operations in Falconer. This is our corporate headquarters,'' he said.

Right now, the company has 300 active employees. Certo said the employees who have been laid off have recall rights for two years, which the company plans to use if the national economy turns back up.

''Our intentions when the economy picks back up is to call back individuals, get the workforce back up to size,'' he said.

Certo said along with the Falconer plant, there are three other Truck-Lite manufacturing factories in Pennsylvania, which have also laid off employees.

''At Falconer, along with all facilities, we've had to pursue limited layoff activity in all plant locations,'' he said. ''We're trying, obviously, to fill up the best we can, manufacturing as much as possible where it makes the most sense at this point. What we are dealing with, at this point, is excess manufacturing capacity.'' More...

The Coudersport plant laid off 25 last week.

Maybe they aren't closing their corporate headquarters, but what about COUDERSPORT!

Anonymous said...

Dont worry coudersport will be the last one to close since they pay the workers the least amount of money, and have them doing the most work. With the 3 other business making 11+ dollars an hour due to being a union, coudersport you start out at 7.87 and max out at like 9.50 which takes about 10 yrs to make. So coudy will be the last to go.

Wonder how many were laid off in their plant overseas?

To post 12:46 p.m.
The only plant that is union is the Falcone plant. All the PA plants are union free and they do not make that kind of money.

Don't worry..Your job will be ending soon as is everyone else's.

I have worked there for several years started out at 18.50 not sure what happened to you guys, but I just got a raise when the others got fired now I am up over 20 an hour.

To the person who is making 20.00 an hour, I worked there for almost 10 years and never made that kind of money ,I just wonder who is doing your job while you sit back and make that kind of money?? That is what is wrong with the whole picture here, when are people going to be paid what they are ACTUALLY WORTH!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Go to college... Then you might be worth more than $7.50 an hour, other than that, stop complaining and be glad you have a job... if you do...

First off lets not pretend 20 bucks an hour is something to be proud of because it is barely enough to pay the bills. Second if you have worked anywhere in your life for 10 years and do not make at least 20 bucks an hour I would seriously consider a change in career. Lastly because I make more money than you that automatically means I am not working? I mean GF. I really don't understand that one.

I hear Coudersport's recalling the 25 people next week.

Well that is good news looks like Obama's plan to create new jobs is working after all.

YES WE CAN!!!
YES WE CAN!!!

To the person making 20 an hour, you are the one that brought up how much money you are making and apparently PROUD OF IT. I think the point was that there are people working for alot less than that, because that is the only job they can find. There are college grads that are not lucky enough to get a job like you have, but they are working and trying to make it.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Bowling just isn't President Barack Obama's game.Appearing on "The Tonight Show," the president told host Jay Leno he'd been practicing at the White House's bowling alley but wasn't happy with his score of 129. The he rolled a gutter ball by quipping: "It was like the Special Olympics or something."
Here is your tonight show.

Yeah I lol what a wonderful joke he made I am sorry you don't have a sense of humor. There is nothing wrong with using the Special Olympics as a metaphor to describe ones skill level at something.
