The child is my grandson, Brandon Tarabori, son of Shannon Eckert and Scot Taraabori. He was taken by life flight to Geisinger Hospital. He did not have any broken bones but he does have head injuries and is being carefully watched. He is also complaining of lower back pain but he is awake and alert.

Thank you for all your prayers and concern.

I travel Via Bicycle in that area all the time and have always wondered if I might have an accident similar to this. Its horrible to hear of someone so young getting into a situation like this. My prayers are also out there for him.

Roulette has a skateboarding spot for kids. LITTLE Roulette, but BIG Coudersport doesn't. Hope all goes well with the young man. We as drivers and pedestrians need to look out for each other.

Roulette townspeople worked very hard to get that skate park. I recently met with a rep. from DCNR to see about getting a grant for a skate park in Coudersport. It is not a well accepted idea to the people of Coudersport. I am not sure why, but skateboarders are often stereotyped as "troubled" or "bad" kids. I understand that these boys should not have been skating on Route 6, it is dangerous, but so is bicycling, running, or walking. There is a great FAQ page on the benefits of putting a skate park in at: http://tonyhawkfoundation.org/faq.asp
The rep. from DCNR stated that they will match whatever amount of money that is raised or donated. This includes the value of the land that could potentially be donated. If there is any interest in forming a committee to discuss the idea of putting a skate park in Coudersport, please respond. I believe that it would be worth it to have somewhere for our kids to skate safely.

There is no place for kids to play on these skateboards and myself as a driver I have to watch out for vehicles, people, animals, and children. AND just because you own a skateboard doesn't mean that you are a bad kid. I know we would like to put labels on all the kids. Stop labeling these children and maybe they wouldn't be so bad.... BE KIND AND SHARE THE ROAD or give them a place to play build a park.

Chuck are you for real??? a young man got hit by a car, show some compassion. if you have any, These kids have no place to go or anything to do. what do you mean by the comment they thought they where big so they went on rt.6??? No Chuck these are just kids and wanted something to do. and Thank You God he didn't get hurt any more then he did. you act like you might have all the answers Chuck, so what is it you think our kids should be doing in this town and where would you like them to do it? and also GROW UP you do nothing but cause TROUBLE for everyone. and yes I am pretty sure I know who you are. do you live in Sweden Valley by any chance? I for one am very grateful that God was hitching a ride on that skateboard with that young man. I heard he came home today.

My grandson is a skate boarder in LA. He is not a bad kid. That is his only hobby. When he comes up here he is bored to death. I took him to Roulette once and of course he doesn't no anyone and there was hardly any kids there. Even where he lives in a large town, they have not put in a skate board park. The liability is too high. The grocery stores after hours do however allow them to come use the parking lot. I don't care what they are on, people have to be careful not to hit them, In the borough the kids can't hang out at
Sheetz, can't hang out at McDonald's, can't hang out at the courthouse anymore, can't hang out at the schools after certain hours. Pray tell, where are they to hang out and just be kids?

Who cares if this child was hit while skateboarding or walking down the road. The fact of the matter is that a 14 yr old boy a meer baby was hit and could of been killed. Thank God he was not. Apparently Chuck has no children because if he did, rather he agrees with skateboarding or not, he would feel for not only this child but for the family as well. Potter County has a great share of tragity already this year. Three young teenagers have already died. I thank God that he sent a Guardian Angle to be with this one so we as a community don't have to go through that sense of loss again. My prayers and thoughts are with this child and his family.

I believe I know who you are too "Chuck" and what a very unsympathetic thing to say. So what if he was on a skateboard, a bicycle, or on his own two feet! The fact of the matter is, this was an accident, and thank God he is okay. It could have been a lot worse and this community does not need any more tragedies with our children! So, grow up Chuck and stay up on your hill!
