Jim,

The "editors note" on this one had me laughing out loud!!

The Republican party's long term turn to the right has left many moderate Republicans out in the cold. We feel like aliens in our own party. The conservatives don't want us, nor do they want any philosophical diversity in the party. Thus, Specter's position is quite understandable.

If you're for big government which I believe is at the root of many of our country's problem, then Specter is your man. He is the big government poster boy. 30 years in the Senate is too long. Let's hope we elect a new Senator next year.

This guy is a traitor to the people who have voted for him since 1966.

Specter, whether he acted solely in self-preservation or not, represents the large number of Republicans who have become disenfranchised with the party. Used to be the GOP was for lower taxes and less government. GW Bush changed that and a lot more. Bush brought the far right out who wanted to make the USA a southern baptist country.

On another note, bet the GOP is sure glad that they weren't able to get rid of the filibuster a few years ago when everything was coming up roses for them.

He should be made to give up his seat NOW, let him take a stand for his NEW party if that is really what he is doing!

Why should he give up his seat Now, his position on the issues haven't changed he has always been a moderate and he was repeatedly voted in. The only thing that has changed is the name of his party
he will not always be warm and fuzzy with the democrats he will vote on the merits of the issue at hand(just like always) This mane THINKS for himself not the party,
GO Arlen
