Arnold F. “Arnie” F. Bailey, 77, Tonawanda, NY

TONAWANDA- Arnold F. “Arnie” F. Bailey, 77, of Tonawanda, NY, died Tuesday (Apr. 21, 2009) unexpectedly at his home.

Born May 24, 1931, in Port Allegany, PA, he was a son of Charles and Ida Fischer Bailey. On Oct. 2, 1954, in Port Allegany, he married Shirley E. Leavitt, who survives.

Mr. Bailey graduated from the Port Allegany High School, Class of 1948.

He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the US Air Force.

He was a carpenter for many years and employed by the Todd Co. of Buffalo, NY, before his retirement.

He was a member of Carpenter’s Union, Local 285, Buffalo, NY.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Shirley, are two sons, Jeffery T. (Cheryl) Bailey of Tampa, FL, Kirk M. (Kim) Bailey of Amherst, NY; three grandchildren; a brother, Paul A. (Martea) Bailey of Stuart, FL; two sisters, Mina Rock of Chesterland, OH, Fay Dole of Fenton, MO; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Myra Chesbro.

Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Friday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (Apr. 25, 2009) with Rev. Michael Culver, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Port Allegany, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.

Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
