Change You Can Believe In.....Yes We Can....

"We the People" to "King of the World": "YOU'RE FIRED!"

by Michael Moore Page

www.opednews.com

Nothing like it has ever happened. The President of the United States, the elected representative of the people, has just told the head of General Motors -- a company that's spent more years at #1 on the Fortune 500 list than anyone else -- "You're fired!" More...

Well it's about time that someone in this country got the intestinal fortitude to tell these people how it is. We need to get this situation under control and its obvious that big business has no desire to do so and they are the ones, along with dear old G.W. , that got us into this mess. More power to him!

Be careful what you wish for.

Those in glass houses should not throw stones..If the federal government were looked upon as a business, they would have been bankrupt YEARS ago and everyone fired...our trade deficit is inexcusable and appalling.

Can you spell CHANGE. Change that anyone who voted for our Pres. wanted.

"If the federal government were looked upon as a business, they would have been bankrupt YEARS ago and everyone fired..."

I agree..... and we did..... the American people fired the Republican party from power. Under Bill Clinton our economy moved in a forward direction and took out our debt. Under G.W. we got into the worst shape we've been in since 1932.

"our trade deficit is inexcusable and appalling"

It sure is, and why? Because (among other reasons)there are people in Detroit that are getting paid way more than they should and refuse to give an inch to help things improve.

This country has put itself into the position that it is in and there is plenty of blame to go around. Pres. Obama has only been in office a short time. He didn't create this mess so let's not blame him for where we are today.

Obama and his sick supporters are going to kill our Country

This is a fundamental change in our free market system. I am afraid we may be saying goodby to it.

The end game is a Fascist Takeover, cloaked in a crisis.

Remember these words -

As Rahm Emanuel, his newly appointed chief of staff, put it: “Never waste a crisis.”

Just keep printing money! You can blame Bush all you want our economy was spiraling out of control long before even Clinton was in office. It can only be hidden for so long and then....well make more money and we'll see.

Government has NO BUSINESS in the business sector. They SHOULD NOT have bailed them out, the SHOULD NOT be appointed a new board of directors. This is just the beginning people. Obama and his socialist plans have just begun. This is the beginning of the end.

Sorry 10:57, but I'm one of those sick supports of this Pres. The death started back with trickled down system, that end up in China and India.

To the blogger that wrote, "There are people in etroit that are getting paid way more than they should".
I hope you included the union, Their hourly wage is obscene, well over $60/hour. They had a hand in ruining the industry too! But Obama just blames the "fat CEO'S".
Now we are hearing about a new world currency that this administration says it's very open to. Change we can believe in? I think not.

Well maybe GM WAS a Fourtune 500 company for 100 years, but if their asking for a bail out, their NOT a money making company, and they should NOT get a bail out.

My construction worker husband in out of work – he did everything he was suppose to; worked hard, pays his bill on time; wheres his ‘bail out’ NOWHERE!! We have readjusted, shifted gears and he has to think of another career. He can’t just sit on his fanny and get a bail, and then build a house. Houses aren’t selling so why build them???

GM wants to make cars, with our ‘bail out’ money, but then we can’t afford to buy a car because we already gave our money to GM to make the car. GM doesn’t want to readjust or down size. They just sit on their fannys, get bail outs and build cars that no one wants. I’m sick of it – YOU GO OBAMA!!!

Anonymous said...

GM will not be making the cars they want to make. Obama's government will be telling GM what kind of cars to make and those will be the only cars the public has to chose from. Cars we don't want, made with our tax dollars, that now we can't afford to buy anyway and yes, the union should have been made to sacrifice before any of the auto industries received bail out money. Remember, GM was not the only car company that received a bail out so soon the government will be running ALL the car manufacturers. Being that they can't even run the country that they are supposed to be experts at running, how scary a thought that now the government is getting into the car business. Everyone should go back to horse and buggies.

Anonymous said...

Our government didn’t go to the GM and tell them how to run their business, GM came to our government and said “we’ve mismanaged our business, can you help us??”

So our government said “Yep, but with conditions” Obama isn’t scratching anyone backs, like some ‘other’ presidents have done in the past. He’s putting business in their place!!!

Anonymous said...

If GM wants to continue making the kind of cars THEY want to make, they should manage THEIR business better. I have to manage my life, when my life falls apart, I can't just ask for a bail out - without consequences – DUHH. If I ask a bank for a loan, I have to repay with interest. If I ask my folks for a loan, their entitled to ‘get into my business’ – why is our government exempt??? Why in the world would you think that our government should just hand over tons of cash and say ‘have a good day now – came back and see us again’.

Anonymous said...

Did obama fire anyone in AIG oooooo thats right they gave him alot of money. sorry i forgot !!!

Anonymous said...

Exactly the point - the government HAD NO BUSINESS handing over ANY cash to ANY failed business!!!! They should have kept their noses OUT OF IT. Who can blame GM for asking? It never hurts to ask. It was the government's responsibility to say NO.

'Nuff Said said...

Blah... Blah... Blah... Blahhh.....
Fact, they asked for the governments help with a bailout... They got it, it is just at an expense that they did not want to pay. They wanted to have their cake and eat it too. They got the cake, but someone else is gonna be nibbling at it instead of them. It is their fault that they are in this position in the first place. If it weren't, then every automobile manufacturer in the united states would be in the same boat. I didn't hear Ford asking for handouts...Hmmmm, maybe cause they are doing something different. Maybe because they are not creating vehicles for less money with lower grade products and charging more for them. Don't get me wrong, I hate Ford, but there is logic in my thinking, don't 'ya think?

The only reason we're in this shape is because the democraps had control of congress and led us down this path. Just look at the money they are wasting now. "Democtars piss me off"

To many people drinking the kool aid..

I think the country should be split in half, dems on one side and rep. on the other.

Republicans will take our redneck hard working values.

Dems take your lazy, make us all equal, take from the working and give to the lazy values.

and see which side of the country fails and which one survives.

anyone crossing over to the other side will be shot by a redneck who clings to his religion....

all that agree say raise your hand... and don't say "present" please....

To blogger april 2 2009 @ 12:41
You almost had it right except we republicans control congress for during Clinton reign and 6 years of George the Jerk Bush, Now you blame it all on the democrats get your head out of the sand and put the blame where it belongs. Do you not remeber that Bush said the economy is in great shape! Your head is in the sand his head was up his a-s. So now is the time to stop playing the blame game and move this country toward recovery

Anonymous said...

To Anonymous @ 11:44; no Obama didn’t fire anyone from AIG; AIG taught him a lesson. He applied the lesson to GM.

If I go to the bank and ask for money to fix my leaking roof, the bank feels sorry for me and gives me lots of cash at a cheep interest rate, but I spend the money on a fabulous vacation instead. THEN I go back to the bank and ask for more money, don’t you think the bank would say ‘what’d ya do with the first batch of cash’?

Suppose my neighbors got wind that I was getting all of this cash for a low interest rate and they go to the bank and ask for cash. Umm, don’t you think at some point the bank would stand up for what’s right and say “I Just Can’t be Taken Advantage of Anymore!!’. If Obama hadn’t stood up and said NO, there’s no telling where this would end.

Not to worry. It won't matter what side you live on when Pres. O gets done trying to make nice with the Taliban.

Anonymous said...

yeah well the democrats side wont have any guns...

the republican side will have the guns and the beer, not to mention all the money..

But I agree, he don't want to call them terrorist anymore, because it might hurt their feelings...

kinda weird how he claimed in this pre-election speeches that he would bring all the soldiers home, and instead has sent them to afganistan. but i guess that is ok...??

he has lied and lied and he has only been in office a couple months.. we have 4 more years of this crap....

Anonymous said...

HUMM? Make nice with the Taliban?? What are you talking about?? Is the Taliban taking over GM, as I thought the subject at hand was how Obama fired the CEO of GM.

Do you know something we don't?? Is the Taliban going to run General Motors??? Where did you get this informaion?? The Taliban??

Anonymous said...

The UAW is not the cause of GM's troubles. Avg starting pay is under 15 bucks an hour in Detroit. Thats the same as what Toyota starts there poeple at KY. The UAW is being used a place to point blaim by the same republicans that have Toyota plants in their states. Propped up by the Japs with big tax credits and the we give them to Toyota also. The CEO failed, he should be fire. Even when everything was goin well he was lossing market share. More CEO's need to be held accountable.

Yup... it is going to be called Chevroletiban Motors...

The man's only been in there a few months! Bush and Chaney killed Coudy, lied to the people, told the supreme court to go screw themselves and did whatever they wanted to for 8 years!John Kennedy himself coulnd't fix our problems this fast! I'm not a fan of very many politicians these days, but give the man a chance! Brad

obama has inherited a disaster and turned it into a catastrophe. In a few more months we won't even recognise the county we once new.

Anonymous said...

I just think that the stimulus isn't going to help. I am 25, and I think that when I'm 45 this will all happen again, due to the ever increasing projected deficit...Viscious Circle eh?!

Anonymous said...

So we have a recession that's likely going to last 2 yrs which is the average duration of a recession and now this time we take the entire free market system which has made us the greatest country in the history of the world and throw it away.

Brad - I'm going to say 95% of the time that I agree with everything you post. But Bush/Cheney didn't kill Coudy. Not saying that Bush/Cheney didn't screw up a lot of things but Adelphia is not one that we can lay at their feet. People need to realize that with Adelphia's debt load it would have never survived without going into Chapter 11. So even with or without any criminal behavior, the ending of the book would be the same. Adelphia would be in Chapter 11 and the assets would have likely been sold. Charter had less of a debt load than Adelphia and they could not survive this credit crisis. Whether the Rigas family committed any crimes or not, it likely would not have mattered. Too much deb....wasn't a problem at the time but all that debt would have had to be refinanced right about now. And that wouldn't have happened.

Mr Sarcastic said...

Come on...it wasn't the government that killed Coudy and Adelphia...it was greed. Local people all know that there was sooooo much money wasted by Adelphia/Wending Creek that it makes me sick. How can a farm buy brand new equipment and build marble barns and never have a profit? It was nice that they raised turkeys for all of the workers and had nice bee hives so Rigases had fresh honey. Hey! Let's take the company jet down to the vacation house in Cancun for a week....wonder how much that cost the stockholders? I agree that John did a lot for Coudersport and was a good man, but, for having Ivy league educations, the boys did some pretty stupid, arrogant, and greedy things. I never did find out what happened with that 100 pairs of slippers from the Hilton...

I heard that one of the bigger accounts of AIG is the teacher's union. Guess who suppoted Obama?

Seems that some of you out there have forgotten Clinton's NAFTA plan. Thanks to that I along with alot of other people lost our jobs
because the companies went to Mexico and other countries. I was lucky and found another job. Some have not been so lucky. The country
did not get in this shape in just a few years it has been coming for along time. I did not vote for Obama but I will say the man has a
real mess on his hands.
