Pot Is Non Addictive Effective Pain Medication

Bill to Legalize Marijuana is in
PA State House

A bill to legalize the use of medical marijuana is now being considered in the state House.

Representative Mark Cohen of Philadelphia says people should not be forced to choose between moving out of state or buying drugs from criminals to treat certain conditions.

Legal medical marijuana is a pain management medication that is known to be effective in relieving pain and is not physically addictive for most people.

So far, the bill has only six co-sponsors. Cohen, however, says he's optimistic that more lawmakers will sign on after the bill gets public support.

"Patients are asking for this bill," Cohen said.

For more information, go to Cohen's Web site.

I don't smoke marijuana but I just don't see the big deal about it. If people want to do it, how is that any worse than drinking alcohol?

I hope this bill passes. It's humane and makes a lot of sense. Unlike our country's nonsensical drug laws.

GOD made marijuana, and man made alcohol, who do YOU trust?

I thought it is legal in Potter County!

just what we need to do is make this crap legal like it isn’t already too easy for our kids to get their hands on

You can go through the Holy Bible and find many verses that mention the use of various flavors of alcohol....wine...mead....but i don't recall any of the different books of the Bible ever referring to the use of marijuana or any narcotic drug. God made poison Ivy too......try drying out some of that and smoking it!!!

Who know's maybe it would help the terminally ill. Maybe it will keep the area drug addicts from breaking into the elderly's homes for their pills. The "potheads" around here are resistent to marijuana. They have become nothing more than crack and pill addicts who are a nuisance to the society and to those of us raising young children. They are always looking for the next high and not caring who they hurt in the process to get it.

Legalize it and their would be less of a "draw" to the stuff.

The states way to save the "welfare" program, no need to test for a legal drug now is there? Ya did not take long to figure this one out!

legalizing pot for medical purposes isnt anything like you think. go open your medicine cabinet and tell me how many "legal drugs" you have, that if not used properly, are then considered illegal. tink about it you dont need a dealer to get high anymore. all that ppl need is access to someones "legal" prescription medications, which most ppl usually keep in the bathroom, kitchen or bedroom of the home.
i personally dont smoke pot or do any other illegal drugs, but at one time... like many others i did. and now i just drink alcohol. and i believe "to each his own". i feel that owr government should treat pot just the same as any alcohol.
* set a standard legal age ... 21
* regulate places of purchase ... state stores and such.
* regulate laws ... as in d.u.i., d.w.i.,the equivlent of public intoxication, etc.
* and finally ... tax the hell out of it. much like everything else. and put those tax dollars towards or economy.
and as for just the use of medicinal purposes theres no difference ina perscription of an eight of pot, ritalin, oxycontins, morphine, percocet, etc. ... all of which can be used illegally and effectively to get high.

Legalize it!

I personally don't see much of a difference between it and many, many other pain medications out on the market, so why not legalize it?

I might have had a different opinion several years ago but now I've had to watch my mother who has an auto-immune disease as well as cancer struggle with immeasurable pain. If it could help her, why not?

I actually think if it were legalized it would be a bit harder for the kids to get to get because it would be more regulated.

Whoever the heck it is that brings the Welfare program into everything is very small minded and just spouts off ridiculous nonsense.

My message to people of that mindset:

You need to stop judging until you walk a mile in their shoes. It's only by God's grace that you are not wearing those shoes. If you were, you'd be singing a different song.

You lump the good and the bad apples together, taking no consideration for the innocent.

Until you've been diagnosed with an incurable dibilitating disease and are in constant pain; don't judge those who need pain relief.

Until you've watched your job slip through your fingers still have a family to support, with no way to pay your mortgage and buy food, let alone provide medical care for your children; don't judge those who use the Welfare system when they need it.

What you pro-pot people don't realize is that if they legalize the use of pot, it will be as a controlled drug issued for medicinal purposes only. You won't be able to just walk into Rite-aid and buy a carton of joints so you and your pot head buddies can have a party. Once it gets under the control of the government, it will be processed by factories and the price will go way up. It's not going to be like picking a bud from the plant behind your outhouse and rolling your own. It will still be illegal to be grown and distributed, but the penalties for getting caught will go way up because the offender will be cutting into the governments money. Maybe you boneheads shouldn't have taken that last toke that killed off your last few intelligent brain cells.

A lot of the times when you have a prescription it is legal to grow your own... I know that people can also get paid by the govenment to group weed for the program if you have a grow card. Basically when you make it legal for medical purposes cops don't bust anyone for smoking....maybe this way we could finally get rid of that K9 "drug dog" in sweden township.... wouldn't that be nice...

"don't judge those who use the Welfare system when they need it."

And that is the point, the system was set up to help out people when they need it, not live off the system generation after generation!
