Potter County Offices Continue To Relocate

gunzburgerbuildingRelocation of departments to the F. W. Gunzburger County Office Building on the corner of Main and Water streets continues, according to the Potter County Commissioners.

Next to make the move will be the office of District Attorney Dawn Fink and Victim/Witness Coordinator Christy Steiner from a rental unit on North Main Street to a renovated, secure wing at the Gunzburger Building.

Also scheduled to relocate is the Assessment Office and Tax Claim Bureau. An empty office located just inside the building’s Main Street entrance has been renovated to accommodate the commissioners’ administrative and fiscal offices.

A new office area has also been established on the first floor for the Director of Veterans Affairs.

The new conference center established in the former school auditorium has now been equipped with portable tables and chairs. It’s capable of accommodating groups of more than 100.

Meanwhile, Register and Recorder Gary Kelsey reports that a recent upsurge in interest by title searchers connected with natural gas exploration could lead to a request for additional rental office space in the Gunzburger Building.

Work cubicles established near the Recorder of Deeds office have been leased by energy companies, providing a revenue source that helps the county to offset utility and maintenance expenses at the building.

Yeah this is freakin beautiful. Storefront after rental office space is empty in Coudersport while companies can lease space from the county **(GOVERNMENT) ** for whatever price they feel like paying. WOW!! Typical example of what this country is boiling down to. Nothing.

'for whatever price they feel like paying'--what is statement based on? I bet the county has a say in setting the price. If not, I would like to have a cubicle there for one dollar a month.

Give the Commissioners a break...they're trying to lessen the burden on taxpayers. I've seen where the researchers rent space. They're cubes in a hallway. It makes sense to me to rent that probably otherwise space out if someone is willing to pay for it.

Why rent out space to anyone until all the county offices have been relocated. They'll probably run out of room before all can be moved. Sounds like this has been done wrong from the very beginning. I thought they paid some company to figure out where each county office should go. Did they throw that out the window?

Go down to the Register & Recorders office and see what's going on. It makes a lot of sense.

doesn't anyone read the paper said right in the paper renters were comong up with their own price and lease agreements.confrence center?yeah now lets have the county compete with the area fire depts on renting out space for groups. why not break that up into smaller offices and rent them out.oh thats right between the three amigos they can't come up with lease agreementsinstead lets take away from the fire depts income i guess we really don't need them .maybe the three amigos can take a few classes and learn how to fight fires and do rescues and be emts. its doubtful though.i think we should call that the county mausoleum the way we keep regulating everything the only thing we will need is a sign that says rip .wind turbines and gas /oil wells are the future . i wish i could afford to put a wind turbine in my backyard and a gaswell in the front just to p*** you people off. we need to do something if not we all will be spending are social security checks on inflated gas prices to go see our families who haved moved away .we need to find away to get good jobs here so our kids can live here with us. wake up and grow up

IS THIS THE KIND OF POSTING "YOU" THINK IS GOOD JIM!

if you want to attract good jobs here we need to work together as a community. If I was thinking of locating or expanding a business here a lot of the garbage I read posted here certainly wouldn't encourage me to do so.

I wouldn't believe everything you read in the newspaper and even less in a lot of the comments on this site, which is a very good site for what that's worth. I'm glad we have more choices to get info. on what's going on locally.

12:57 pm - You are right on! The more I read, the less I am interested in Potter County. You people are either swearing at each other or preaching and praying. What gives here?

Anonymous said...

I agree with what 12:57 pm is saying, but the folks railing against the Commissioners or whatever else happens to make sense are a small minority. times are tough here as they are in most communities, but I think the community will work together to move things forward. I ignore the negative and support good leaders in our community and pitch in to help where I can.

A lot of the good leaders so to speak don't even read the comments because they can be so discouraging. Fortunately, most people around here judge people on their actions...not just what they here or read on a forum like this one.

...and on another note, are they going to bother to make the building handicapped accessible?

Anonymous said...

no. the building is already handicap accessible. if you care that much I would think you would ask!
