Elderly Passenger Hurt in Potter County Crash
An elderly Genesee woman suffered moderate injuries in a one-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon on the Ulysses-Hickox Road in Bingham township. Troopers said 86 year old Penelope Mehal was a passenger in a Buick LeSabre driven by Lawrence Mehal, also 86, which went out of control on a soft shoulder while headed south. The sedan struck a private driveway ditch culvert, crossed the driveway and continued along the should before striking a mailbox. Mehal continued on for about a half mile before the car quit running and had to be pushed off the road into a parking lot. Mrs. Mehal was taken by Tri-Town Ambulance to Charles Cole Hospital. The driver was cited for allowing his vehicle to leave the roadway.


Troopers Investigate Hit and Run in Roulette
Coudersport-based state police are looking for a vehicle which hit a parked car at the intersection of Pomeroy and Main Streets in the village of Roulette at about 10:00 pm Wednesday. Authorities say the unknown vehicle failed to negotiate a left turn, traveled off the west side of Pomeroy Street and traveled about 90 feet through a yard, and struck a 1999 red Chevrolet Monte Carlo legally parked outside the residence. The hit and run vehicle traveled about 30 more feet before hitting a tree and re-entering Pomeroy Street . The driver fled south from the scene without notifying the property owner or police. Anyone with information is asked to call the Coudersport barracks at 274-8690.

Bradford Driver Stopped for DUI
Kane-based state police have charged 23 year old Deanna Ross of Bradford after pulling her over early this morning in that city for a traffic violation.

Charges of Harassment and Criminal Mischief Filed Against Kane Man
Ryan Thomas, 20, of Kane has been charged with harassment and criminal mischief in connection to an incident taking place early this morning at a residence along Route 3211 in East Kane. Troopers claim during an argument, Thomas grabbed 37year old Michael Johnson by the neck and punched him in the head; then broke one of the steps inside the house. Meanwhile, state police have not released the names of the people involved in an incident taking place last Friday evening at a home on Route 646 in Keating Township. Troopers say a known suspect pushed a 46 year old woman causing a minor bruise to her right arm during an argument over a sub sandwich. He’s also accused of throwing a remote control at an 11 year old girl, hitting her on the right side of her head, causing redness around her ear. A fourth person in the house is accused of throwing a brick at the 25 year old suspect as he left the house. The brick missed the suspect.


Police Looking For Stolen ATV
The theft of an ATV in Lafayette Township, McKean County is being investigated by state police at Kane. Thieves took a 2000 Honda 300 EX belonging to Paul Conner of Lewis Run over the past few days while it was parked on his property located along Rocky Run Road. The four-wheeler is described as being black with red handlebars, the two rear tires were flat and the value is said to be $1000.

No Damage at Morgan AM & T

Coudersport Volunteer fire fighters were called to Morgan AM & T on Route 6 East Thursday at about 12:35 when smoke from an overheated oven triggered a smoke alarm. There was no damage and all units were back in service a short time later.

Germania Bar Cited
The Germania Hotel has been cited by the Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement for three violations. Officers claim that Marcie Drake, the sole corporate officer, consumed alcohol while tending bar or otherwise serving alcohol; sold alcohol between 2:00 and 7:00am and failed to make patrons leave the serving area within 30 minutes after the required time for alcohol serving. The offenses allegedly occurred o February 7 and March 7. The charges will be brought before an administrative judge who may impose fines ranging from $50 to $5000. Licenses can also be revoked or suspended. Licensees may also be required to undergo training.

Potter County Residents Sentenced
In recent Potter County Court action, a 22 year old Cody Airing of Austin was admitted to the ARD program for 15 months for possession of Prohibitive Offensive Weapons (M1) According to DA Dawn Fink, on September 9, 2008 Chief Day of Austin Boro Police Department, seized several weapons from the defendant’s residence in Austin pursuant to a Protection from Abuse Order. One of the guns was a Mossberg sawed off shot gun which belonged to the defendant and was not used as a family heirloom. The barrel of the gun had been reduced to 16’’. Airing was also ordered to pay the costs of court and a fee of $525.00 to cover the costs of the program. He was also ordered to perform 25 hours of community service.

Another county resident was sentenced to 12 months probation receiving stolen property. Terry Clark, 21 of Roulette was also ordered to perform 25 hours of community service and to pay all court costs. The DA explained Clark was arrested when State Police responded to Dingman Run Road, just north of Snyder road in Hebron Township to assist Coudersport Borough with a traffic stop last May 4. Upon arrival the Trooper noted nine Penn Dot and Township signs in the back of the defendant’s vehicle; they also found a tool kit used for removing nuts and bolts. After being advised of his Miranda Right, the defendant gave statements indicating to the Trooper that he and a juvenile had removed the signs from various locations in Potter County.
