Wellsville Woman To Be Sentenced in Potter County
In Potter County Court action a Wellsville, NY woman will be sentenced on May 13 for two separate thefts. Wendy Robinson,28, pleaded guilty last week to Theft by Deception (M1), and Theft by unlawful taking or Disposition (M1). Potter County DA Dawn Fink explained that while being employed through Help Mates Robinson took checks from Charles and Edith Barker, while working in their home. Robinson cashed one check at First Citizens National Bank in Ulysses for $400.00. Robinson had not been authorized by the victims to take or cash any checks from their home. Robinson also pleaded guilty to Theft by Unlawful Taking (M2), and Unsworn Falsification to Authorities (M2) for incidents taking place during the fall of 2007. According to the DA, on 10/30/2007 George Robinson reported to State Police that someone had stolen a book of checks from his home. Two checks had been cashed at Foodland and Kosa’s Store in Galeton. Upon interviewing the clerks at both stores, State Police concluded that Wendy Robinson was a possible suspect. On 11/1/2007 State Police interviewed Robinson who provided a written statement claiming that she did not take checks, or forge the victim’s name. Then a week later, Robinson was arrested for Theft and Forgery relative to another case. Upon being interviewed on 11/8/2007 she confessed and provided a written statement that she had taken the checks from the victims home, forged his signature and cashed them.More News....
