The Blue team got beat badly a lot last year. Maybe it's time Coudersport went back to just one team and let the others play inner city.

Yeah it looks like Coudy got beat by a girl!

Anonymous said...

But shes not just any girl.. Shes Cheyenne and could give anyone a run for their money.. Way to go Sis!! as well as the rest of the Shinglehouse team- Great Job!!

Coudersport has a great development for youth, whether it is in inner city or little league, these kids need to play. It is the best thing for them.

Look at Austin they havent won anything in years, but they keep on ticking

Way to go, Cheyenne!! She did a great job along with the rest of the team. That's my girl!!!

It was a nice game for Shinglehouse, let's not forget the Coudy Blue players. Not fun for them but they along with their coach and manager kept their heads up. As far as getting beat by a girl, that remark was uncalled for. Take your win with pride, not with arrogance, a winning team is also a team with compation and class.

By the way, I am from Shinglehouse and wish all the players a great year.

I am a parent from Shinglehouse. I believe that Baseball is a team sport. It is not one player such as a girl or a boy. Who cares. Every player who was fielded and was able to bat played a part in the win. Do not just read into the names listed here as there were more kids on the team who particiated and did quite well. To post the score was in rather poor taste. We have enough kids who are down in life without adding to it. So to all the kids on the Shinglehouse and Coudersport Blue teams good job yesterday.... Coudy blue has nothing to hang their heads about...

Give me a break! Youth sports build character. Whether they enjoyed the pounding or not, learning to deal with defeat will help develop the Coudy Blue players later in life. I appreciate that the Shinglehouse parent doesn't want to gloat in a big win, but posting results of games is news - whether your team won or lost.

And as far as only posting some of the names of players - ever game has a few players who standout more than others. Sure it takes a team to win, but we aren't all naive enough to believe that all players are created equal. Some players had a better game than the rest. It's commonplace for the pitchers to have a good game in blowouts like this - and fairly obvious that some batters will have been quite successful as well. Don't worry, someday your child will get their name in lights as well....

I remember a coudy L.L. team a few years back having a girl center fielder, that also hit like a machine.Never played her 12 year old season.Austin had one around the same time that could play with the best of them!I believe they both went on to basketball fame.No shame in a loss to a talented athlete, those two could outshoot anyone, boy or girl.

Girls?
As I recall, Port Allegany has picked a 9 year old, only twice.

One was Brian Stavisky ....
Enough said, there.

But the other was Kelly Flint!
She too, was a great athelete.

many thanks to the shinglehouse posters that stuck up for coudy. there are many times that the opposing teams crowd cheers for a player that has done well, & i think that coudy did just that when Cheyenne hit out of the park. Kudos to her!
Remember... its not all about who wins or loses, its how you play the game.!

a coudy blue parent & proud of it!!

What Steve Krajewski did not write about here was the "Dildine Power for Big Green" banner that was hanging on the side fence by the Shinglehouse fans. Come on, Steve, you must have seen it (or did you hang it?).

Anonymous said...

what the heck- shinglehouse cant hang banners? I know when i was in school we made banners for us to hang in the gym for all our basketball games. Why is this any different? There is nothing wrong with team spirit, sorry they beat you to it!

Anonymous said...

Thanks Steve for not mentioning the Dildine word......They just can't drop it. Tough that a few from Coudy feel their only claim to fame is Dildine. As far as sticking up for Coudy, it is tough not to when they are kids. Just remember this when you beat OV during basketball season and you guys are so arrogant about it. Just shows that winning is about being humble too.

Now, another thought. It's great when your kid excells, unless they go on as a few do in our area, not many remember their greatness. Only the parents:) Girl or boy who cares how long ago they could play with the best of them.

Hey Steve...I thank you on behalf of all of the O.V. parents and fans. There are not many parents who take as much time as you do to be involved in many of the local sports activities in our community. Helping kids, taking pictures and being supportive to our team and any team we play. The article was great. Thank you for taking the time to post it. As previously stated, any article written about any team win lists the players who stood out. If any parent has a problem with that, that's just too bad. It is a goal for players to work harder and develop their skills so that maybe they can "stand out" in the future.

I have been a coach of this age group for many years. I have seen alot of great players and some poor players. But the parents are always the ones who act the most poor of all. By putting the comments that some of you have it shows why some of your kids have no sportsmanship at all. Congrats to Shinglehouse and the players and to Coudersport and all the kids whether it is Little League or Inner City. Parents and fans show some pride it is for the kids.

AMEN to Poster 8:37

Just a little added post to Post 837. First of all I am an OV fan. Steve took his time to post the Stats of the Game, which most people would not take the time to do unlike some of the jerks that took time to write a stupid post to make more of this than it is. It is just the stats of the game and a few highlights of the players that stood out in this one game. It is not about any one player, girl or boy. The Coudy boys did there best and kept their heads high. Good luck to the OV Team and Coudy Team. Grow up and let the kids play baseball.

Congrats to the Shinglehouse players, they are extremely well coached and very disciplined players. Coudy Blue will play with their heads held high as true sportsman. Lets not forget that a couple of the kids on the Coudy team have endured recent tradgedies in their lives to include one who's mother has cancer. Also a tremendous job of umpiring to Shawn....thanks for continued support and courage!

A proud Coudy Blue Parent.

Lets not forget 4 out of the 5 players mentioned were part of the shinglehouse undefeated team last year and Chey made contact of The greatest pitcher in potter mckean little league history tommy walker shinglehouse will definetely go undefeated again

Anonymous said...

making contact? are you kidding me? i mean in that game "she made contact against Tommy in" what was the score? I'm glad to see that made your season right there because to be honest, being a parent of a child on a team finishing 15-0 is somethin i kind of sit back and reflect on. Chey is a great player but lets not put the small details out there. Many kids got the bat on the ball against Tommy. Bottom line is he never lost. And that my friend is something that will be remembered more down the road. Not who put the bat on the ball against him. Now STFU and let the kids do what they do on the field.
