WNEP-TV
A hazardous materials crew is on the scene of a chemical leak at a rest area along Interstate 84 in Pike County.

State police said three troopers and three highway inspectors were doing routine truck inspections at the promised Land rest area near the Tafton exit (26). The men discovered one of the trucks was leaking.

A corporal taking pictures of the leak when some of the chemical dripped on his face and other body parts. When the chemical effects started to show up on his skin, he was rushed to the hospital.

"They took him back to the barracks, treated him with soap and water, then Life-flighted him to Lehigh Valley Hospital," said Trooper Bill Satkowski.

The two other troopers and the three inspectors were also taken to the hospital as a precaution. Troopers said everyone is expected to make a full recovery. Three of the people taken to the hospital did not show any symptoms.

There is no word exactly what the chemical was or how much chemical leaked from the truck. Hazardous materials workers have been on the scene all morning cleaining up the chemical.

Traffic on Interstate 84 was not affected by the leak.

The truck driver said his company, Roadway, will likely be fined for the violation.

You couldn't pay me enough to do their job!

What job is that? Robbing blue collar people for the state? Actually, maybe you should reflect on that the next time you get a rash and the emergency personnel on the other end of the phone laughs at your request to be life-flighted to the hospital.

What in the heck are you talking about?

Smokin Joe ...
What are you smokin?

To smokin Joe, It appears you have never faced a man armed with a knife or gun in your line of work, But I HAVE, and I am proud to have served the citizens. So grind your ax some place else.

4:25 - It's called reading...you should try it.

4:26 - Nothing, that's why I graced you with a clear and sensible fact.

6:28 - Sure, sure. You're a man of the people. Video games don't count. The Sandbox is the only resume I need.

Smokin Joe

You're a confused man

Smokin Joe, I think I can say without reservation that on his worst day that trooper is a million times more important than the sum total of your life.

Smokin Joe

I asked you

"What in the heck are you talking about?"

You responded

"It's called reading ... you should try it."

Now I'm really confused.
Again I will ask ...

"What in the heck are you talking about?"

10:03 - I suppose...if you feel riding around, policing truckers, and robbing the middle/lower class is important. I wonder if this was the trooper's worst day? The day he was LIFE FLIGHTED for a skin rash. (This is for you too 11:36.)

9:42 - I am confused. I wonder what other petty things my tax dollars are spent on?

Smokin Joe, I'm sorry to tell you, but you just don't matter. I think you know deep down that you are a nothing and always will be. That must be the source of your anger at people who are better than you. Now get back to work and put my groceries in a paper bag dammit!!!!

Joe, specifics please. How do they rob the middle class and what do you define as the middle class? Have you been arrested before? Just wondering.....

Hope the Trooper and all that were involved get well soon.

It’s a coward that would make the comments made my Joe, hiding behind his computer. What a guy.....bet he’s been put in his place a few times by Law Enforcement!!! :)

5:56 - What's wrong, sweetie? Why all the condescending remarks? Are you expressing anger for something that happened to you when you were a child? Maybe an Uncle who was a little too friendly? It's alright...things will get better.

5:57 - No, I have never been arrested. I am employed full-time. I have served in the military and overseas. I pay bills with no assistance. I have a family and own a house. Middle class is an ambigous term. So, how about "working class" or lower middle class. I simply feel that safety is a byproduct of a large police force in a small area. On the other hand, it certainly is a great money-maker for the state.

7:25 - I'm sorry... Is there some other vessel that I could use to blog? Would it make me less of a coward if I were to use my Blackberry? How are you posting to this blog? Would it be anonymously and behind a computer?? Yeah, I thought so! In some circles, you'd be known as an ignorant hyprocrite.

Question Joe: Who passes these laws and who sets the fines and costs. Answer the people that we elect, that includes you if you vote. Your attack on the system just doesn't belong in a news article when a working man or women is injuried in the line of duty, You were in the military, so when orders come down you follow them, police officers. You are employed and you do as you are told by your supervisor, just like police officers. You have a house and pay bills just like a police officer. It sounds like the ax you have to grind my be against yourself. ummm

Big Dumb Joe,

I am being condescending towards you because it amuses me to do so. I just dropped a brown trout in the toilet that is more important than you! You are the one who started this with your dingleberry, turdball rant, I am just having a little fun saying insulting things to you. I'll take plastic this time.........

4:09 - It's not that black and white. You can vote for a person or a party and not agree with everything they do or stand for. We have the freedom to disagree and have an opinion. (Even if it's not popular.) Furthermore, I have no problem with most police officers. Just the system. If you read my first blog I pointed out that he was life flighted for a chemical reaction to his skin. This makes me wonder WHO you have to be in order to be life flighted for a chemical reaction to the skin. However, my sincere apologies if his skin was melting from the bone and he was in cardiac arrest. I suppose then my tax dollars were well spent. Ooh, the ax is getting sharper.

10:49 - Thanks for the explanation. I do enjoy reminiscing the third grade names. Did you say, "dingleberry" and "turdball" and actually think you're funny? Now, that's funny! Hey, seriously, you should talk to your Uncle. Maybe re-visit some of those traumatic experiences. It's the only way to heal. Don't fret though...I forgive you.
