Unemployment Compensation Claims Can Be Filed Online on Easter

New Web Tool Lets Claimants Instantly Check Status of Claim, Benefit History

HARRISBURG, Pa., April 10 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Out-of-work Pennsylvanians can file initial unemployment benefit claims online while the unemployment compensation telephone system is closed in observance of Easter, according to Labor & Industry Acting Secretary Sandi Vito.

On Sunday, April 12, initial claims may be filed online at

A new online feature allows claimants to check the status of their claim online seven days a week. By using the new "Check Claims Status" button on the Web site, claimants can instantly and securely check the status of their claim and review their benefit history.

"We continue to make our claims system easier to use. This new claims status function shows the steps we are taking to make the filing process more convenient for all Pennsylvanians who are out of work through no fault of their own," said Vito. "It is imperative that these benefits are delivered quickly and efficiently to people who need them."

The telephone system for filing initial claims - 1-888-313-7284 - will resume operation on April 13. The system normally operates Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The best times to call are later in the day and later in the week.

The automated PA Teleclaims, or PAT, system for filing biweekly, or continued, claims -- 1-888-255-4728 -- will maintain normal hours of operation over the Easter weekend: 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday, and 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday.
