May 25th 2009-- The Austin Memorial Day Parade started at 10am. Going up Rt
872 to Main Street to the Memorial. Pics at avfd44.com

With the Local policeman, Officer Day driving the police car, followed by Austin Boys Troop 524, Austin Cub Scouts Pack 524, and Drummer Mike Shaffer (walking), All the Austin Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Company #44 trucks and vehicles, Austin Jr Fire Department Float (5th prize -Honorable mention),The Free Masons Arcana #580 in the offical uniforms (walking and riding).

Big Mike's Dairy Dine "Coffee Club Float" ( 4th prize -HONORABLE MENTION),LITTLE MISS AUSTIN-JADE WILLIAMS riding in Blair& Ann Shupe's Car, Austin Area High School Varsity Cheerleaders Float (1st prize), 347th Quartermaster Company Detachment#1 - 1st truck carried Boys Austin Little League Baseball Team,2nd truck 357# soldiers.

3rd truck 357" soldiers, 4th truck carried Men of of Austin Memorial VFW

United Methodist Church Float- 2nd Prize.

At the town Square, the Memorial Day Program was held with the greeting
and Invocation by Pastor John Baney. The National Anthem was sang and the
Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all. Remembering the Sacrifice was
read by Nancy Glover. Many Readings were presented by the Austin Cadet
Girl Scouts Troop #199. Emelda Glover presented a reading.
Our guest speaker this year was Kerry Ehrensberger, SPC who who spoke of her time over seas with the service.

The Lords Prayer was sung by Gloria Stuckey and Nancy Glover. We had the raising of the Flag by the Austin Boy Scouts Troop #524. The Veteran's Program by Austin Memorial VFW Post
#7810 and the Ladies Auxiliary with the placing of the wreathes. the 21
Gun Salute was presented by the 347th Quartermaster Company Detachment #1
and the Austin VFW post men. the Benediction was done by Pastor John
Baney.

Luncheon followed at the Austin Fire Hall sponsored by various
organizations and many individuals. Thank You all for support.

why wasn't Little Mr. Austin not mentioned? He rode with Little Miss Austin. I think it was Aiden Glover
