Author Warns Free Speech Is Under Attack

NEWSMAKER GUEST WARNS DEMS WANT TO SHUT DOWN "TALK RADIO"

Canisteo Valley News

Free speech under attack says author

The Tuesday guest on the AWARD WINNING WLEA NEWSMAKER PROGRAM told listeners Tuesday that the Obama administration, acting through the Federal Communication Commission (FCC), will take measures soon to "shut up" all opposition voices to the Democrat agenda.

Author Brad O'Leary says radio stations will have their licenses threatened by the FCC if they fail to respond to liberal complaints about program content. The vast majority of successful talk radio hosts are conservative. Liberal efforts to match them have failed miserably. Therefore, says Lucas, the Obama controlled FCC will force all radio stations to have so called "diversity committees" which will decide content of programs.

Admitting this is an attack on free speech, the author argues that the Democrats from the White House to members of Congress will remain silent as the FCC forces some stations to abandon "talk" formats, He also predicts that some stations will simply go off the air.

There certainly is no shortage of fruitcakes in this country.

This happens with all new Presidents in office...I am a Howard Stern listener and under the Bush admin they basically shut him down with what he could do so he moved to Sirius. Also the Janet Jackson mishap was handled so poorly when it was a true mistake. If you listen to idiots like Rush or O'Reilly you should understand they are so far right they are just nuts and it sounds like they are anti-american...I would like those knuckledraggers off the air too!

LIFE WITH BIG BROTHER
Census GPS-tagging your home's front door
Coordinates being taken for every residence in nation

By Bob Unruh
© 2009 WorldNetDaily

GPS satellite

According to an online Yahoo program, the Global Position System coordinates for the White House, probably one of the best-known publicly-owned buildings in the world, are 38.898590 Latitude and -77.035971 Longitude. And since you know that, it's no big deal for the White House to know the coordinates for your front door, is it?

Some people think it is, and are upset over an army of some 140,000 workers hired in part with a $700 million taxpayer-funded contract to collect those GPS readings for every front door in the nation.

The data collection, presented as being in preparation for the 2010 Census, is pinpointing with computer accuracy the locations and has raised considerable concern from privacy advocates who have questioned why the information is needed. They also are more than a little worried over what could be done with that information.

Banned by U.K., Savage hits back
Radio talk star blocked from visits, along with terrorists, neo-Nazis

Talk radio host Michael Savage is considering legal action against Britain's top homeland security official after she released today a list grouping him with terrorists and neo-Nazi murderers banned from entry because the government believes their views might provoke violence.

I was listening to Glenn Beck last night and wondering how long it would take for our government to try to snuff out the grass roots movement that has started. It's unconstitutional for them to do this and I hope that for the sake of our country it is not allowed to happen. Check out www.glennbeck.com and have your eyes opened to what is going on!

This is insane. Do they not understand why those conservative talk shows are so successful? It's because people listen to them! This government is failing us as Americans and the only way to oust them is to sever ties with the Dems and Reps. Re-register as an Independent and show them how sick and tired we are of the party system. It used to work, but power hungry individuals have ruined it. Non-Republicans/Democrats need to be voted into our national offices. This is OUR country and we need to take control of it and honor OUR Constitution as it's written.

Once again the republicans are creating lies about the Obama administration trying to shut them down. They are really grasping at straws now. They need to shut down idiots like Rush.

People listen to these shows that promote the same type of bi-partisanship that is tearing this country apart. I agree with 11:47. Anyone who would want this coutry to fail is not an american (A.K.A Rush) It is always good to have a separation to keep the ruling party in check, but political extremist are just as damaging as religious radicals.

FREEDOM OF SPEECH! That's what all the idiots cried when they wanted to bash Bush for the Iraq War. What's the difference if someone wants to bash Obama?! They have every right to do so. That's what makes this country so "great".

Anonymous said...

Idiots? For bashing the Iraq war? Really? There is a huge difference between propaganda and reality. When i see this on something beyond the Canisteo Valley News then I’ll join the freedom of speech movement, but as of yet i have not....and no fox doesn't count. And trust me we "idiots" voiced opinion on many more Bush moves than that, but wait i disagree with NAFTA and the freeing of prisoners at Gitmo. So am i still an idiot? or just someone who has the ability to think rationally and for themselves?

Anonymous said...

I love how most people only endorse the Freedom of speech when it's something that they want to be said or heard. People used to want to pull Elvis records because he was too provacative, Ozzy records because of the messages in the lyrics, same with Marilyn Manson following Columbine, and eminem. So do you all feel that these records fall in the same category? Or is that different because you’re trying to protect something sacred?

Anonymous said...

Why do you want to limit what I can listen too?

The 1st amendment is to protect the speech you don't like.

The speech you like needs no protecting.

Anonymous said...

Sounds like the Obama administration is scared of everyone hearing the truth. Why else would they encourage these radio shows to stop talking? They don't want people to know the truth about what that radical socialist (meaning Obama)is doing or going to do. If no one knows, no one can stop it. That's the real goal to this movement, keeping the public in the dark.

Anonymous said...

I didn't say that i wanted to limit speech in any sense of the word. Just that if your going to support something, support it all around, don't pick and choose. In most of the examples above it was the same liberals fighting against those types of 1st amendment issues that would fight for this one. You can't claim freedom of speech only applies to talk radio.

Anonymous said...

All I can say is wow!

It's no wonder our rights and freedom are stripped away more and more each day.

Screw the FCC. Freedom of speech regardless of who agrees!

Anonymous said...

There is not one thing stopping liberal talk show hosts... they can just as easily set up a program as any conservative voice out there -so what's the problem? I'll tell you... people don't listen to liberal talk radio! Sheesh! Funny thing! Yet millions DAILY tune in to Rush and Bill and Glenn. Wonder why - since the conservatives no longer have leadership, conservatives need these guys to speak for them. Speaking against WRONG is not hate. It's exercising your right to free speech. Most critics of the conservative voices out there do not even listen to them. You're just parroting the nutso rhetoric of MSNBC, NBC & CNN.

When conservatives speak out, they get called names (see above ignorant renderings), villified, and trashed. We are the only group that are viewed as having no right to free speech. Blacks have theirs, gays have theirs, but conservatives - sorry! If the libs disagree with you - too bad, you are to shut. your. mouth. Hmmm... now just what does the Constitution of the United States state...? If you don't like freedom of speech, maybe you should consider moving to Iran.

Anonymous said...

I'm for freedom of speech across the board and our federal legislators, the President, and federal judges take an oath to protect it. It is something that all people whether on the right or left ought to be concerned about. It's a fundamental right that ought not be infringed upon.

Anonymous said...

I'm still waiting for any proff other that what this one guy is saying. Then maybe i'll go off on a rant. I will say that the comment about a man never working a day in his life who went to harvard Law is insane. As i sit here praying to get into half as good of a law school. And i busted my butt to get even that hope. I do not see an influx of people moving out of this country from Potter county so it must not bug you that much. Here we go again. You are making it a case of , my way or the highway. It is about our freedom of speech and our rights. Sit back and think of all the laws voted in that took your right of choice away.

Anonymous said...

I am making it a case of give me some proof that there is basis to the article before i make an argument? No one has stated a source other than this one article. I have been combing the internet for a RELIABLE source and am unable to find one. That doesn't sound overly absurd to me. And why don't you site a law that has taken your right of choice away (voted in by Obama). Just one that has directly affected Potter County PA. I'm looking for you to site sourcse before moving forward with your argument. I have not once insinuated that my opinoin was correct over anyone elses, i just feel that they should be backed up, who knows maybe i'll formulate an opinoin on your side of thinking.

Anonymous said...

Citing reliable sources is important, it's true. We have to remember that not everything published as "news" is actually accurate or true. Also remember that news companies often skew how they write to get a bigger audience (or whatever). Take the whole swine flu fiasco as an example. It's no worse than any other flu, those who are dying would die if they caught any other flu, and it reacts to medication, of which we have a ton stockpiled. But let's insight panic anyway...

And the rights being taken away bit is getting a bit old. The thing is, everyone sees their "rights" differently. We lost "rights" under Bush. We may lose a few under Obama. We may regain a few. It all varies. Democrat or Republican, it isn't the blame of one or the other.

But I do agree - anyone who wishes failure on this country really IS unamerican. People really need to understand - Obama IS the president for the next 4 years. Deal with it, get over it, and hope for the best. Feel free to prepare for the worst - but don't actively strive to achieve it.

(And that would be my republican booty has absolutely NO respect for Rush Limbaugh)

Maybe I was away for too long but I have to laugh at the idea of referring to someone under the heading anonymous as YOUNG man, nice try at being intentionally belittling. Considering you did however say that, 8:55, let me just say that you are insane! To think for one second that Bush did not know there were no WMD’s in Iraq is ignorant to the point of senility. THEY SAID THEY HAD PROOF!! You can’t get human error out of proof, oh and the CIA commonly typically makes errors that kick start wars? I mean it isn’t like they are one of the top INTELLEGANCE agencies in the world or anything. We spend billions of dollars to make sure that human error doesn’t happen. These are supposed to be the cream of the crop making decisions. And it wasn’t we should have until recently, before that it was “we should be”
BTW, (that means “by the way”, I realize the age gap can suck, trying to figure out what us whipper snappers are saying with our crazy acronyms) I cast my vote to point fingers at whomever I choose. I didn’t agree with going into Iraq in the first place, because we needed to be going after the terrorist, not picking up Bush’s fathers vendetta with Sadam.
One last thing…….I’m a republican, Nancy P is not my speaker. I am however smart enough to realize that George Bush was wrong. Not just follow blindly because my party tells me so……You need to formulate your own opinion, that magic box with the Fox emblem in the corner doesn’t always say the truth. So you take all the information you can find, compile it, and decide how you feel about it. Don’t comment on freedom of speech, if you don’t even exercise your freedom to think.

Fairnes Says: KUDOS to 9:01A will said.

It should be noted that there has ALWAYS been a limit to our freedom of speech. Always. Even before Clinton, Bush and Obama. The simple fact is - you cannot say things that will insight panic. Lying in public is generally unacceptable. I do believe there are some laws to this effect even.

While I do not agree with how 9:01 posted, the points made at the end are particularly salient. I admit I find those who follow the party line blindly do so out of either ignorance or laziness - it's important to look at multiple sources for a story, form your own opinion, and think for yourself. Those who don't are little more than lemmings, whichever side of the aisle they choose to stand on.

It's sad to say, but both sides have done wrong. Both sides have made mistakes. Both sides think some crazy things. You can defend your party (whichever one you are) til you're blue in the face, but it doesn't change the facts.

What IS important is that we try to look at things rationally, and not just whine, complain, and lie about it because things didn't go the way a person wanted. If you want change, go vote (there's one May 19th - good place to start), write your representatives, and most importantly - read the news from more than 1 source. In fact, read the news from three or four - try to find the least biased, or the most biased in both directions.

Anonymous said...

It's a shame that such ignorance permeates any conversation or debate in Potter County. People, so some research. If you believe your rights and liberties are not further removed each day in the country, then wake up, and for God's sake do some research before spouting off inaccuracies. Read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairness_Doctrine

Then read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equal-time_rule

And for the "land-owner" who feels he can hunt anywhere...cherish that "right", while you still have it. We don't own land in this country, that's ridiculous. We do however sell the rights to lease the land from our governement. That's the truth. Don't pay your lease "taxes", and guess where your "land" goes?

This country is no longer free. It is a Socialistic Republic. Keep supporting types like Obama, and soon our government will make all of our decisions.

I love America, and that is why I speak this way. Don't tell me to go to Mexico because I critisize MY goverment! You sound like Tyrants when you talk that way.

I (12:09) apologize for how i presented my opinion earlier. I feel i could have maintained my composure and illustrated my pointed a little more clearly if i could have calmed down. I resented the insinuation that this person could speak down to me (I could be a young woman, old man, old woman) Perhaps I was a little harsh in my presentation. I am not typically in the position of attacks, and apologize if I offended anyone.
I do however maintain the importance of not following the opinion of someone because you share a party. We should be able to face the faults of the political leaders in our parties, and not defend mistakes just because of partisan loyalty. I also feel that there is a difference between voicing concerns of national leadership, and awaiting it’s failure. We have become so skew as a country, that we miss important things. The hamburger thing is a wonderful example. Who cares what Obama had on his burger, who cares what his wife is wearing. I think our country really needs some focus in order to move forward.

Poster 5/7 8:55pm re: Bush human error - WRONG.
The decision to go to war was put in place and the policy was made to fit. There is a very famous leak about this, called the Downing Street Memo. Basically Bush knows there are no WMD's but he is going to invade anyways.
reference: http://downingstreetmemo.com/
Bush is a war criminal (sorry). Obama has bombed a sovereign country with drones (Pakistan). Same thing. (sorry). The topic is shutting down Talk Radio, and for those who wish to get a sample of it, visit the GCN Radio Network, Republic Broadcasting Network, Libertynews Radio Network and see what you stand to lose. Like in the former Soviet Union, where they had such a controlled news slant, the people used shortwave radio to get non-government opinions. The Internet is in danger, blogs are in danger because the government is going socialist fascist communist and they do not want you to have an anonymous opinion (can't hide anonymously much longer - sorry), and continue to hunt down dissenters who don't toe the party line. If there was one thing I could get into your thick heads it is not a left-right issue. The left right thing is put in place to keep you arguing with each other instead of facing the bad guys in government and holding them accountable. They NEED to shut down the traditional Internet to "crush the competition." Hitler did the same thing. Lay low and hope they don't come a knockin on your door. By the way, the Census Bureau will likely tag your GPS coordinates in their computer. It'll help them when your time comes. I love America, and the Constitution. It's still the law of the land (sorry)

I have never agreed 100% with any president we have had or the congress. But just because we have a black president does not mean I have to agree with him 100% or else I AM CALLED NAMES!

Bush was not a perfect president none of them were. We can finger point and play the blame game all day long and that will not change one thing that has happened nor will it stop what will happen.

I voted for Clinton twice and I voted for Bush and neither of them were perfect as our president. Will Obama be perfect? No, he will make his mistakes along the way as he all ready has...I see our men and women are still in Iraq so I guess he does not have all the answers after all!
Decided we need to bail out companies so they do not go out of business or go bankrupt, not enough money, no problem just print more...some auto makers are now going bankrupt after receiving bail out money...so ya see there is no need to keep pointing fingers at the past or present president because they will make mistakes and I do not care what party they are, it will happen!

I loved the comment about the democrats taking power in 2007. So who screwed up the country the other six years of George W Bush's reign ? When Clinto was in office the republicans controlled congress, and besides some wild times in the oval office, life was pretty good in the USA. Bush and his blind followers led this country down the path of destruction. Sure Iraq had weapons of mass destruction the US gave them too him (saddam Hussien) when he was fighting Iran. Remember Osama Bin Laden we helped him in Afganistan when he and the muhajiden were fighting the Russian there. The us supplied the weapons including stinger missles , Remember Ronald Reagan and Iran Contra affair. Please think of these things when your bitching about the current administration. I don't know where he is taking this country hopefully he has learned from the previous administration and will not make their mistakes again remember there is plenty of fault to go around. We the people have to start thinking for ourselves and not follow strict party lines.
