Commissioners Had It Wrong--State Did Pay For District Attorney Pay Share

Red-faced board apologizes


LOCK HAVEN EXPRESS- The Clinton County commissioners turned red Thursday - with anger at staff and embarrassment at themselves-after being told the state is not in the red when it comes to compensation for district attorney pay.

In other words, the commissioners, usually very reliable in their facts and figures when it comes to addressing issues between state and local government, had it wrong.

Last week, Commissioner Tom Bossert complained at length that the county had not yet received the state law-mandated money converting county district attorney positions from part-time to full-time.

Enter Mitzi Gallagher, legislative assistant to state Rep. Michael Hanna. D-Lock Haven.

Gallagher appeared at Thursday's board meeting armed with copies of the checks in question and cited figures in support of the fact that the bills have been paid. More....

Chief Clerk Todd Brown reported this week that the state had completed payment of their portion of the DA salary for 2007. They owe $200,000. for 2008 & 2009. See article.
