Coudersport Pool Swimming Lesson Program

Dear Parents:

Welcome to another summer! That can only mean that it is time for the pool to open and swimming lessons to begin. Please return these applications back to the school by June 3, 2009. Any time after that date please return them to the Coudersport Borough office, 201 South West Street, Coudersport, PA 16915 or to the Coudersport Town Pool.

As in the past years, lessons will last for one week and will be an hour long. You will have a choice of 6 sessions this year. Please remember that we will try to get you in for the first session requested, but you may need to be flexible.

The American Red Cross offers seven levels and these levels are what the Water Safety Instructors at the pool use. The requirements to pass these levels can be found on the back of this page. Also there is a preschool level in which students are introduced to some of the skills learned in level 1. Preschool is meant to be a fun orientation for students to get used to the water so that when they begin the levels, they are not afraid of the water. Preschool is reserved for children between the ages of 4 and 5. Preschool and lower level lessons will be given in the late morning.

Lessons will cost $25.00 per child for Coudersport Borough School District residents. Non Borough Coudersport School District residents $30.00. All children not associated with the Coudersport School District will be charged $35.00 per child. PAYMENT IS DUE THE FIRST DAY OF LESSONS – CHECKS PAYABLE TO COUDERSPORT BOROUGH!

Recently you referred to your Town pool as a area pool (supposedly asking outside areas to use the pool). Now, I find that living within your school district and not in Town costs me more for the lessons plus costs for transportation every day for a week.

Boy, I just don't get this picture too clearly. What am I missing, if my family goes to your school? Better buy a large backyard pool that can be used everyday and not discriminated against because we live in the school district but not in the town. Ever wonder why you have problems?

Better yet; How much county tax money is there going into this water hole?

Anonymous said...

The key word is "county" money, not borough money.

Well how about this, you idiots... Only Coudersport Borough residents pay taxes for this pool. The surrounding townships do not. Yet, they use the pool as much as the rest of us. Unfair taxation....ALL township residents should be charged higher fees to use the pool since they don't pay taxes on it!

This is quite laughable. Maybe you people that open your big traps to whine really loudly should know your facts first.

Absolutely NO county money goes toward the "water hole". Each borough resident pays $50 in taxes for it.

I thought that I recently read that the Coudersport Pool was going to receive CDGB funds that were approved by the Potter Co Commissioners. The CDGB funds are Federal $$$ that come into the Redevelopment Authority that the Commissioners have the final blessing/approval on where the $$$ will be spent.

Maybe the above blogger does not know that Federal $$$ are now going into the Coudersport pool.

How soon until we get one of those windmills up? That will certain blow the air around!
