Distinguished Hampden-Sydney College Professor Attends Austin Dam Site BioBlitz In Potter County Hills

Dr. William A Shear, Biologist

William A. Shear, Ph.D.
, is a biologist and Charles Patterson Distinguished Professor of Biology at Hampden-Sydney College in central Virginia. His areas of expertise include entomology, invertebrate zoology, evolutionary theory and the history of earth and life.

He is a member of the American Arachnological Society, the Cambridge Entomological Club and the Paleontological Society, among other affiliations.

He is author of many scholarly papers and articles, as well as the book Spiders: Webs, Behavior and Evolution.

Dr. Shear is a native of Coudersport, who is enjoying his finds at the BioBlitz, at the site of the Austin Dam ruins on Freeman Run. You can read more about Dr. William A. Shear by clicking HERE
