Shinglehouse, PA----Faith E. Gibson, 80, of Seminole, Florida, formerly of Shinglehouse, PA, died April 24, 2009 in her home following a long illness.

Born May 31, 1928 in Olean, NY, she was a daughter of Lawrence and Lina Stonemetz Stearns. She married David J. Gibson, who survives.

Mrs. Gibson was a graduate of Shinglehouse High School and a graduate of Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor’s degree in education. She taught at the Shinglehouse Elementary School and later was employed as the manager of the Singer Sewing Machine Company and through her superior service was awarded a trip to Hawaii.

Mrs. Gibson was a member of the Shinglehouse United Methodist Church and the Mary Martha group of the church. She loved crafts, sewing, and flower gardening.

Surviving besides her husband are two daughters, Hope E. (Robert) Wagner of Oregon and Debbie Lee (Derrick) Graham of St. Petersburg, Florida; and two grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gibson was predeceased by a son, David E. Gibson; and a sister, Laura Hosterman.

There will be no public visitation. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at the Shinglehouse United Methodist Church, Shinglehouse, PA on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Daniel P. Grimes, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Wells Cemetery, Oswayo, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, PA.
