Falls Creek Motorcyclist Injured In DUI Crash In Southern Potter County

A Falls Creek man and his female passenger were injured when his Harley crashed on Route 872 near the Portage Road in southern Potter County Friday evening.

Jeffrey L. Striegel, 54, of Falls Creek, was not wearing a helmet and received major injuries.

Striegel was traveling south on Route 872, too fast to negotiate a right hand curve in the roadway. His motorcycle crossed the northbound lane, struck guardrails, slid along the guardrails for about 90 feet, overturned on it's left side, then slid another 75 feet, before coming to rest in the northbound lane facing south.

His passenger, Patricia K. Fields, 40, of Reynoldsville, PA, who was wearing a helmet, received minor injuries and refused medical treatment.

Striegel and Fields left the scene of the crash, but were located a short time later near the Wharton Tavern. He was transported to Charles Cole Memorial Hospital in Coudersport by the Austin VFD ambulance for treatment of his injuries.

Trooper Seth R. Rupp alleged the driver was DUI at the time of the crash and indicated that DUI and multiple summary traffic violations will be filed in District Court 55-3-01.

Trooper Rupp was assisted at the scene by members of the Austin Volunteer Fire Department and the Austin Borough Police Department. The motorcycle was towed from the scene by Kightlinger's.

On scene photos are available at Austin VFD website.

You gotta be kidding me blame the road ?Yea there are hundreds of dangerous roads, curves, ect in potter and all over the state. Still doesn't change the fact that booze & speeding played a role in both of these bike crashes.
