Mildred L. Ludwig, 86, Port Allegany, PA

PORT ALLEGANY- Mildred L. Ludwig, 86, formerly of Skinner Creek Rd., died Wednesday (May 27, 2009) in the Bradford Regional Medical Center, after a lengthy illness.

Born April 1, 1923, in Port Allegany, she was a daughter of Floyd and Iva Harris Studer. On Aug. 24, 1939, in Port Allegany, she married Richard A. Ludwig, who died May 15, 1999.

Mrs. Ludwig and her husband owned and operated a dairy farm for many years; and tested milk for several area farmers. She also was a certified nurse’s aide for a number of years.

She was a lifetime resident of the area and attended the Birch Grove Mennonite Church, Port Allegany.

Surviving are two daughters, Judith D. (Kenneth) Maben of Port Allegany, Nancy I. Hamilton of Allegany, NY; 9 grandchildren, 25 great-grand-children, 5 great-great grandchildren; a brother, Fernley A. Studer of Port Allegany, four sisters, Virginia Heany of Port Allegany, Esther Ross of Canton, IL, Rena (James) Bliss of Eldred, Joan Waid of Duke Center; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Richard, a son, Richard L. Ludwig, Jr., two brothers, Floyd “Bud” Studer, Joseph Studer; and two sisters, Clasa Studer and Donna Williams.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (May 30, 2009) with Rev. John Lapp, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.

Memorials can be made to the American Heart Assoc. or the American Cancer Society.
