Missing 2 Year Old Found Safe More Than A Half Mile Away

2 Year Old Found Safe

A two year old boy, with his companion black lab dog, was reported missing Friday at noontime to the Sweden Township Police Department.

Police Chief Bryan Phelps responded to the 12:28 pm call at the Caldwell residence at 605 Irish Farm Road. He immediately called for the Coudersport Fire Department, and requested that the Coudersport Police Department search dog be brought to the scene.

Searchers were held back until the search dog arrived to avoid contaminating the scent. A half mile perimeter was laid out and a command post set up.

At 12:50 pm, Donald Reedy, of 83 Ferds Road, contacted Coudersport State Police and reported a small boy and a black lab dog were in his garage.

The boy and his dog were returned, unharmed, to his residence and all units returned at 1:20 pm.

Sweden Valley Police were assisted by Coudersport Police, Coudersport Volunteer Ambulance Association, Coudersport Fire Department, and Pennsylvania State Police. The chief estimated 18 to 20 volunteers responded to the call.
