Potter County District Attorney, Assessment Offices Relocated

gunzburgerbuilding1Relocation of departments to the F. W. Gunzburger County Office Building on the corner of Main and Water streets continues, according to the Potter County Commissioners.

The offices of District Attorney Dawn Fink and Victim/Witness Coordinator Christy Steiner (both available at 814-274-9450) were moved from a rental unit on North Main Street to a renovated, secure wing at the Gunzburger Building.

Potter County Tax Claim Bureau (274-0488) has been separated from the Assessment Office and is now located in the Gunzburger Building, on the second door to the left inside the Main Street entrance. That office is also the new location for the commissioners’ administrative and fiscal offices (274-8290).

Most recently, the Assessment Office (274-0517) and County Mapper Tom Leete have moved from the courthouse basement to the Gunzburger Building’s first floor, just inside an entrance along Water Street. A new office area has been established on the first floor for the Director of Veterans Affairs (274-8290, Ext. 210).

A conference center has been established in the former school auditorium, equipped with portable tables and chairs. It’s capable of accommodating groups of more than 100.
An upsurge in interest by title searchers connected with natural gas exploration has resulted in creation of additional rental office space near the Recorder of Deeds office in the Gunzburger Building.

Office relocations have resulted in new mailing addresses. Mail should be addressed to (RECIPIENT), Gunzburger Building, 1 N. Main St., (SUITE NUMBER), Coudersport PA 16915.

Suite numbers created in cooperation with the Coudersport Post Office area as follows: Register and Recorder, Suite 100; Planning Department, Suite 105; Veterans Affairs, Suite 107; Victim/Witness Coordinator, Suite 110; Tax Assessment, Suite 111; Auditors, Suite 112; Public Defender, Suite 134; Treasurer, Suite 202; Commissioners, Suite 203; Tax Claim Bureau, Suite 203; Voter Registration, Suite 204; District Attorney, Suite 215; Probation, Suite 229; Building and Grounds Maintenance, Suite 336.

I would think an empty office in the Courthouse would have been a better place for the District Attorney since all court procedures are there and there is already security.

That would have left space in the Annex for county offices that haven't been moved yet.

Also why isn't the tax claim bureau on the same floor as the register and recorder and Assessment. What happened to the company the County hired to determine where offices go?? Was that just a waste of money?

A waste of money??? No, BECAUSE they KNEW ALL ALONG that they would get money from the county TAX PAYERS.
