WRECK INVOLVING STOLEN CAR INVESTIGATED

Kane-based state police are continuing their investigation into a one-vehicle crash taking place at about 3:30 this morning on the Barden Brook Road in Eldred Township. Troopers said 20 year old Tod Chaffee of Oil Valley Road, Duke Center was driving a 1996 Grand AM westbound at a high rate of speed when the car failed to negotiate a left curve, traveled onto the berm, struck a culvert, a PennDot sign, several mailboxes, an embankment and rolled over several times before coming to rest on the road. Chaffee was flown by helicopter to Hamot Medical Center for treatment of major injuries. Police say they believe alcohol was a factor in the crash and say, that after the crash, the owner of the vehicle, Randy Swick of Smethport reported that the car had been stolen.

KANE WOMAN REPORTED MISSING
A Kane resident who boarded a bus in that town on May 1, headed for Texas has not been seen since. Rhonda Hickman, 41 of Birch Street, was enroute to her sister’s home in Marshall, Texas but never showed up. Some of her luggage arrived at the bus station in Marshall and some showed up at a Greyhound bus station in Ohio. Anyone who has information as to Hickman’s whereabouts is asked to call the Kane Barracks at 778-5555.

ROULETTE MAN ARRESTED FOR DUI
Coudersport-based state police have charged 45 year old Robert Bruce of Creekside Drive, Roulette with DUI after pulling him over early Wednesday morning at the intersection of Route 6 and the Fishing Creek Road for a traffic violation.

WOMEN DECLINE TO PRESS CHARGES
Two Eldred women involved in a fight Wednesday afternoon have declined to press charges. State police say 32 year old Christine Kio and 59 year old Deborah Bird began arguing in a car as it traveled on Route 446 in Eldred Township and they ended up slapping and pushing each other.

NEW YORK STATE WOMAN CHARGED WITH THEFT OF SERVICES
Kristina Watson, 25, of Belmont has been charged with theft of services for an incident taking place Wednesday between 5:00 am and 1:00 pm. State police claim Watson dumped two boxes of trash into a dumpster owned by the Acorn Market of Genesee.

VANDALISM IN AUSTIN INVESTIGATED
Vandalism to a “Welcome to Austin” sign located on Route 872 just south of the S. McCoy Road in Portage Township. Vandals caused $500 in damage by striking the sign with an unknown object between 11:00 a, Monday and 7:00 pm Tuesday.

POTTER COUNTY COURT NEWS
Derek Seaman, 24 of Millerstown, PA was sentenced 72 hours to six months in jail after being found guilty of DUI in a non-jury trial. According to DA Dawn Fink, on May 4, 2008 Galeton Boro Police responded to an upside down vehicle in West Street in Galeton. Initially the driver was not on scene, but later arrived and the Officer noticed a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. The defendant performed standard Field Sobriety Test and was then transported to CCHM for a blood test. Results returned showing his BAC to be .21%. In other court action, 24 year old Shana Hallman will be sentenced June 10 after pleading guilty to DUI recently. The DA explained that last July 9 State Police conducted a traffic stop on SR 6 near North West Street for an inoperable license plate light. While speaking with Hallman the Trooper detected an odor of alcohol coming from her breath and she stated that she was coming from Mosch’s Tavern. Hallman failed the field sobriety test and was transported to CCMH for a blood test. Test results indicated that she had a BAC of .12%. The legal limit in Pennsylvania is.08%. More...

if neither girl will press any charges, they don't have a victim. no victim/no crime, would be thrown out in the DJ's office.
