Shinglehouse Little League adds two more to the win column

By Steve Krajewski
With two thirds of the season behind them, the Shinglehouse Little Leaguers are still perfect at 10-0.

The week’s first victory came on Wednesday at the expense of Austin. On the mound for Shinglehouse, Dylan Buchholz and Garrett Babcock struck out 6 and walked 1, giving up 0 hits. Shinglehouse hitting was highlighted by Garrett Babcock tripling twice, and Andrew Walters, Dylan Buchholz, and Brandon Brabham each doubling. Pitching for Austin was Andrew Nica, Brad Green, AJ Simms, and Mike Shaffer. The Austin pitching staff struck out 1, walked 13 and gave up 14 hits.

Thursday night’s 8-1 victory against Coudersport Purple marked the two thirds point on the 2009 schedule. Coby Krajewski and Nevada Waterman held the Coudersport hitters to 1 run on 4 hits and 8 walks, while striking out 8. Shinglehouse’s Garrett Babcock and Cheyenne Brabham each collected a double. Coudersport pitchers Kyle Klay, Darren Keglovits, Bryce Butler, and Andrew Rigas gave up 8 runs on 7 hits and 6 walks, while fanning 8 Shinglehouse batters. Coudersport’s offensive spark was provided by Kyle Klay hammering a solo home run, and Darren Keglovits getting to second on a double.

Shinglehouse plays again at 6:00pm Monday, June 1st, hosting Port Allegany Black (Roulette).

The Shinglehouse Little League Team is a monster. Steve I didn't know you had this in you. This is great and really like your reports.

A friend from Coudersport

P.S. Of course I'm rooting for Coudersport, but I'm impressed with this team.

To "A friend from Coudersport";

All the credit for the success so far goes to the Kids, Brad and Bob. What impressive me, is that when every one of these youngsters steps onto the baseball field for a game or practice, they give 100% effort to do their best and strive to do better. There isn't one kid on this team who would think of him or herself before the team. They always have each others back covered.

My hat goes off to Brad and Bob for what they have done to develop this team. My role is primarily as an arm for batting practice.

Steve-- I've seen better arms than yours on a chair!
Seriously tho congrats and many victories and dildines to come as the season cruises along. Missing the good old days at the BigA in Coudersport. Hope you are well.
