Volunteers Needed For May 29-30 Bio-Blitz

austdamoneWith more than two dozen scientists and other specialists converging on the Austin Dam Memorial Park for the May 29-30 “BioBlitz,” volunteers are needed to help the organizers make sure the event runs smoothly. It is being held to nurture an interest in science among area school students through a hands-on study of life in the Freeman Run Valley (see details below).

Volunteers could assist with set-up, parking and guiding, registration, safety and numerous other aspects of the two-day event. Among the participating organizations are Austin Area School District, Austin Dam Memorial Association, Potter County Conservation District, Patterson Lumber Company, Austin Borough, the Dominion Foundation, and others.

Anyone interested in learning more about the BioBlitz can tap into a website, http://austindambioblitz.blogspot.com/. Those willing to volunteer should contact Arthur Metzger at 647-8603 (school), 274- 8004 (home), or by email (preferable) at greenbullet@hotmail.com.

I'm pro gas well, pro oil, and pro logging. Not crazy about heavily subsidized, gov't incented wind turbines. I would love to volunteer at the bioblitz, but have to work. I hope they get a lot of volunteers and I don't get your post at all.
