Free Summer Concert At Courthouse Gazebo

gazeboA plan to refurbish the gazebo at the courthouse square will be on display Sunday, June 14, during a free summer concert sponsored by structure’s custodian, New Century Club of Coudersport. NCC is working to raise the approximately $5,000 needed for new roofing, ceiling work, electrical service and other repairs. Volunteer labor could reduce the cost.

The June 14 concert will begin at 1 pm. Proceeds from refreshment sales will be used for the gazebo restoration and plans for the project will be available to the public.

Donations are being solicited and should be made payable to New Century Club, 5 ½ East Seventh Street, Coudersport PA 16915. The gazebo was built in 1981 in an attempt to duplicate a popular bandstand that stood at the same site from 1884 to the early 1920s.

I guarantee if the Dildines are playing NCC will raise the total $5K from refreshments needed to refurbish the gazebo.

I'll be there whether the Dildines are performing or not. Good luck NCC!

I'd rather give some money to the gazebo then the train car.

Good! Please give money to support the gazebo. It needs it, just like the Arboretum does. I don't think it's a competition, but if that's what it takes to raise $s for things that improve the community so be it. I hope a lot is raised for the pool, arboretum, and gazebo this year.

It's great that you have choices, and you're willing to contribute to help the community.

Bring the Dildines! that would be a great fundraiser, if you know what I mean.

Me too, I vote for the Dildines performing the concert. That would be awesome and would raise all the money the gazebo needs with one concert.

I'll put a $100 bill in the Gazebo cup if they bring the Dildines!

the gazebo is awesome. I'm glad some attention is being paid to it. Thank you New Century Club.

Has anyone made a financial offer to the Dildine Gospel Trio to come to Potter County? If you Google that name it takes you to a website. They have music samples. I think they would be very well accepted in Potter County with the old tyme gospel music.

ditto on the 9:10 PM comment; it would be a great draw in Potter County.

Just ask the commissioners for the money.

Does anyone know how much this musical group charges for appearances? I do not think that should come from our tax dollars Isnt the New Century Group in charge of the gazebo?

Ask the Ma Rigas for the money.

Instead of talking about it I have left a message with the Dildine Gospel Trio (It is not the Singing Dildines) seeking rates and arrangement requirements.
Their agent is checking but said that they would require overnight accomodations.
Any takers?
If it is a church or charity then they do not charge as much to perform.

How many rooms do they need?

The Dildine Gospel Trio will come for $1,000 and the best part is they will not ask for any extra for gas, food or lodging. If anyone is willing to put them up for the night, they would appreciate that. They have three musicians and two others who travel with them. One of them is a driver since the father (Bob) had his stroke.
They would also welcome the chance to perform in any area churches for a very small sum to cover expenses is all.
The manager's name is Harold Russell and his contact information is shown on the website.
Anyone that wants to donate to help make this happen could prolly contact the New Century Committee I would think.
I hope this helps. It would be great if we could get them.

That is not a bad price. I am willing to put up $50 to bring the Dildines to Coudersport. I wonder if Westgate or MillStream would put them up as a public service.
This is something the Chamber of Commerce or Arts Committee should spearhead but we are running out of time. Who is in charge of this? I will write a check for $50 and that just leaves $950. Come on folks we can do this! Please post on here who to write the check to and who is in charge of the concert.

Hey I asked around at Mosch's last night in Coudersport have a list of at least 20 people who will pay $20 or more if you can get the Dildines to come for this. Again: WHO SHOULD WE CONTACT TO MAKE THIS DONATION?????

Nobody seems to know who is in charge of this event. If the Dildines are coming they would have to know soon right? Maybe they can come to the County Fair or the Austin Dam Festival?
Does anyone know who is running the gazebo festival.
