Karen Wolf Displays Artwork at CCMH

Karen Wolf Displays Artwork at CCMH

Karen Wolf of Sweden Township has a variety of artwork on display at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital’s Irwin Medical Arts Center as part of the hospital’s Community Art Showcase.

Wolf, who will have rotating work displayed in June and July, works primarily with acrylic and oil. Her subject matter comes mostly from her own photos and wildlife reference material. She also enjoys wildlife, nature, pet portraits and has started doing children’s portraits.

She became interested in art at an early age. Her grandmother, her first art teacher, was a major influence. Wolf studied art in high school and college and attended the Baum Art School in Allentown and Kutztown University.

In college, she suffered a serious eye injury and had to leave her studies. Moving to Potter County four years ago inspired her, and she has been painting ever since. She has also taken instruction from local artist Linda Rohrer. She is married and has two children and one grandchild.

The project has featured artists Pat Bosworth of Port Allegany, Alyson Leach, Leslie Kelley, and Suzan Richar of Galeton, Naomi Keller, Heather Chilson, and Lindsey Francis of Coudersport, and Mercedes Schwartz of Smethport, according to chairperson Betty Wei. Artists are featured for about six to eight weeks.

“It’s a way for area residents to enjoy the talent and creativity of local artists and the hospital family is thrilled to make this opportunity possible,” she said.

For more information on the Community Art Showcase, contact Wei at 274-7910.
