Teen Killed In Violent Crash On Route 255

Teen killed in Elk Co. crash
Courier Express
A teenage boy was thrown from his car and killed in a crash early this morning in Jay Township.

Ridgway-based state police did not release the name of the 17-year-old, but said he was driving a 2000 Hyundai Tiburon south on Route 255 just north of Grant Street in Jay Township, Elk County, when the car left the west berm and the undercarriage hit the entrance of a private driveway at 2:30 a.m.

Following impact, the car continued south on the west berm and hit a tree, then rolled over and continued south, where it hit a utility pole. After hitting the pole, the car rolled over again and became airborne and landed on Grant Street, then hit the guiderail on the south berm. The car then continued south and re-entered Route 255.

The teen was thrown from the vehicle and landed in the middle of the road.

The car continued southeast and came to rest on the east berm, where it caught fire and was severely damaged. More...

My God! How fast was this kid driving and why was he out after midnight at age 17?! He should have had a Cinderella license and been in at midnight.
