BRADFORD, Pa. – Appointments are still available for families of deployed service members to speak with their soldiers via videoconference on Father’s Day on June 21.

The conferences are being offered by the Freedom Calls Foundation, which has teamed up with the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, Pennsylvania CareerLink and veterans representatives to provide free satellite-linked videoconferences for families of service members and their soldiers deployed to the Middle East.

Freedom Calls is a nonprofit organization that provides secure videoconferencing links for service members stationed at or near Taji, Baharia, Taqaaddum or Al Asad Airbase in Iraq or Arifijan, Kuwait.

Locally, family members will be able to conduct a 30-minute private videoconference over a high-quality connection at either Pitt-Bradford or the Elk County Courthouse Annex in Ridgway.

Barry Brown, local veterans employment representative for CareerLink McKean County, is coordinating the events.

“We’re pleased to be able to offer this opportunity to those serving from this region,” he said. “It’s an honor to serve those who serve us.”

To ensure that proper arrangements may be made overseas, interested family members need to make an appointment with one of the following representatives as soon as possible.

To register for McKean, Potter and surrounding counties, contact Brown at CareerLink in Bradford at (814)363-9100, ext. 32, or veterans representative Matt Windsor at (814)887-3241.

To register for Elk, Cameron and surrounding counties, contact Craig Singer at CareerLink in St. Marys at (814)834-2857 or veterans representative Leslie Neal at (814)776-5370.
