EXETER – Police are searching for Renee Hoover, 30, who was last seen leaving her home on Thursday telling family members she was meeting a man she met on the Internet.

“I kind of suspect something bad happened,” said Hoover’s stepfather, Joseph Malone. “This isn’t like her not to call.”

Malone said his stepdaughter hasn’t been home and failed to show up for work at Alden Manor, a nursing home on Schooley Avenue, Exeter, during the weekend.

Hoover left her Mason Street home between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Thursday telling her mother, Rebecca Malone, that she was meeting a man named “Tim” at the Family Dollar store on Wyoming Avenue.

Malone said Hoover met the man in an Internet chat room.

“She met him online,” Malone said. “The only thing I know about him is he just returned from Iraq and is going back overseas in a few weeks. She told us he’s from Erie.”

Hoover was last seen wearing a Dallas Cowboys hat, dark shorts, a dark shirt and black tennis shoes. She has brown hair, green eyes and weighs approximately 150 pounds.

“She left here with the clothes on her back” Malone said. “She didn’t take any clothes, her purse or money. We’re all worried about her. This is not like her.”

Malone said the family filed a missing-persons report with police on Saturday.
