Pulling Together Townships, Boroughs, School Districts

All township and borough officials are encouraged to join school district leaders and the Potter County Commissioners on Thursday, July 23, starting at 6:30 pm. One topic of interest will be the restructuring of Earned Income Tax (EIT) collection procedures for municipalities and school districts, as required by state law. The meeting will be held on the convention room at the F. W. Gunzburger County Office Building.

Commissioners Doug Morley, Paul Heimel and Susan Kefover are also interested in drawing together township supervisors, borough council members, school administrators and other local officials on a regular basis to gather input on timely topics of mutual interest. These meetings will also facilitate better communication from the municipal/school district level to the regional, state and federal government organizations that affect the citizens of Potter County.

Officials who plan to attend the July 23 session are asked to contact Chief Clerk Todd Brown at tbrown@pottercountypa.net no later than Tuesday. Potter County Today

Yeah, let's have another big meeting, say "thanks for sharing" and pat ourselves on the back telling each other how wonderful we are. Then go back to the same old stuff. I guess it makes for good PR to talk and write this stuff to death - where's the action? After everyone meets and greets and whines, how exactly are the people of Potter County better off??

Northern Potter $4.9 million 7.3 increase...

NoPo will want to raise the earned income tax rate...they will need the extra cash to pay for that new "scrolling" message board Mr. Graham wants so bad and the board approved the purchase of it!

I think Rick VanEtten is the only member of the school board that voted "no"! Thanks Rick!

The sale price of this item is around $25-$28K!

My friend had a good question on this matter to a board member..."Just who are the Smith's and why are we trying to keep up with them"? Good one!

They will probable use the class of 09's fund raising money to go towards paying for it even though the class voted their money go into an account at FCNB and not to be touch until their 5th year class reunion comes along. They have between 2K to 3K in that class account...or should I say HAD!

Writer at 12:20 what "action" do you have in mind?
I like the idea of the county and and school districts and townships and boroughs meeting to get on the same page for a change. I was on a school board before moving here and it was the same thing there. Nobody in the county wanted to talk to the school district. Nobody at the school district communicated with the city or townships. Nothing got done because everybody was pulling in different directions.
If public officials in this county can get together they can share experiences and maybe team up for grants, bringing in employers and other things that are good for the taxpayers.
You seem very negative with your comment. Maybe you should run for your borough council or township supervisor or school board and share your ideas for "action" and helping make us "better off."
Do you have anything useful to say or are you just going to make a negative comment that helps nothing?

Three cheers 10:02! Any chance you are from the Reading area? That's the worst you will find for a city arrogantly running everything and the county and other local governments and school districts being left out or clueless or steamrolled.
