A new paid position with tax dollars and a state that is holding out on their mandated programs money?! WHY?

Anonymous said...

sounds like good ole Obamaism Democratic BS to me.

Anonymous said...

Where Do we apply for this position?

Sounds more like the GOP running things. Lets help out our buddies with the taxpayers dollars, but complain that theres too much "government" controlling things. I wonder who they ALREADY have in mind. Did somebody lose an IT job somewhere elses lately??

Is this position open for interview or has someone already been selected? We usually get this type of information after all desisions have been made. For once I would like to see a competitive process followed BEFORE a position is filled in Potter County

Establish a position? I would like to hear the reasoning behind this? Direction of Technological Services??? Come on! I think the money could be better spent elsewhere or better yet ~~not spent at all! Obviously they have "someone" in mind!

Maybe Snyder's or Brown's wife !

Let's pay PCHS their whole pay instead of them working 5 days and only getting paid for 3 before we add more people to Potter County Government?????

More cronyism coming our way... Our dream team is a nightmare.. Power corrupts..

Anonymous said...

Lets see...
Now they are creating a new position so someone can take care of the new tech stuff -They Had To Have- because it was needed to streamline County business and keep us up to date.
What is the process to get these three gone?

Wow, love to see how quickly they blame Democrats - ISN'T THERE 2 REPUBLICANS AND ONLY 1 DEMOCRAT ON THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS? Next, you guys will will blaming Obama for the Hurricane Season.

Both parties... said...

Dem. or Rep. TOO MUCH GOVERNMENT SPENDING, TOO MANY FEEDING OFF OUR TAX DOLLARS!!!

Both parties are to blame, as usual!

with all the wind comming out of obimbo i wouldn,t be supprised if he was not responsible. oh i forgot it is bullsh-- yes the commissioners need to go or taxes will be like obimbos.

Wow, people relax. First off, many of you complaining are the same people who want change and want Potter County to come out of the "dark ages". So the commissioners are finally stepping up to the plate to create an IT department. Look at every other county in PA! They all have IT departments. Do most private companies have an IT staff? yes. So far the county has been contracting out for all of its IT services. I say kudos commissioners. Way to step up to the plate and help Potter County! BTW: The commissioners did not raise taxes this year at all. Think about that.

What is the amount that the outsourced IT services cost today? Have we issued an RFP for these services to determine what the best outsourced pricing could be? Do that, then compare it to the level of service and price that would be available from hiring on full time employee (who will not be available to assist 24x7x365)...

As you all know, I am sure....... everytime a position is filled in the Potter County area there is "always" someone already chosen to be hired. I have tried for years to get a job in the school district and they do the same thing there as well.....there is just no getting ahead within this county. It is very sad, but true.

These Commissioners need to be voted out of office. Susan tells us how great Specter is. He's great for abortion, gun owners and the Democratic platform, which is bigger government. I thought Susan was a Christian. Yet she supports and abortion rights (killer of babies) for Seneate. She must go.

How did this string go from cronyism to Pro Choice?

It would seem the Board of Commissioners has lost site of the fact that they are working in an
8th class county. They are spending money as if they were a board of a sixth class county which has a much larger tax base. Get real! We are a small county and can't afford all of these programs! Is it possible all of this Board could resign and we could get back to a Board interested in the "little guy"?

I find it hard to believe that the commissioners can spend this kind of money!! Do you know that the building where Allegany Township holds it's election has NO running water!! That means no restroom!! The people who sit from 7:00 a.m. until late at night on election days have to use a privy!! They have only wood heat!! Do you know that Commissioner Doug Morley lives in Allegany Township and has promised the girls that sit on election board to find something more modern. Do you know that there is space available a few doors down where Rigas had offices in the old Tucker building. Do you know that Doug still has not finalized this for the upcoming election. Maybe it is because it would cost $25.00 to rent the space for a day. I am so disappointed in Doug Morley as a Commissioner. He can talk the talk but can't walk the walk!!

You people bitch when jobs are lost and bitch when jobs are created. Being a Potter County Commissioner is an impossible task. Damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Perhaps the Allegany Twp Supervisors ought to get their heads out of their butts and do something about the situation there. It isn't the commissioner's fault that the people in Allegany Twp don't want to pay taxes to have any type of progress there. The Supervisors there are the ones that need to spend the money to put in a well and septic. Prehaps then they could actually hold their meetings there too.

For $37500 to $42500 you will get a very wet behind the ears IT person, not someone with valuable experience. Better off leaving it up to the outside experts.

Since when is making another government position at the taxpayers expense called job creation?I think it is really called overspending. If the system is so bad and so complicated that a full time repairman is needed to keep it running, then where is the plus in having it to start with? This is unemployed and poor Potter County.Try paying some of the people you have now!

RE: 8.28@ 944.
With all due respect , I do not know of the person's background as far as education, social acumen, or credentials-however, is it at all a possibility that a person or a workplace that has been hiring or had a position available might have a valid reasons that a person might not be right for the job; and that it might have absolutly nothing to do with favoritism? and have to do with other factors? Not every person is right for a job just because they interview for it, I know- I've been disappointed and have been given counsel/advice on what might help in another interview situation. The possibility exists that someone was chosen already or it might just be that we didn't fit the situation- it can be a hard pill to swallow and accept- I've had to do just that and move on and try again until I found the right place.

I have discussed this with one of the commissioners and it makes a lot of sense to me. I will let them speak for themselves but the way it works out will make sense to you too if you quit complaining and actually learn what it is all about.

Anonymous said...

He!! yeah, lets hire an assistant director too! Then hire numerous administrative positions to support them....Potter can afford it!

Anonymous said...

In the paper there is a story about this it says the cost will not be much more for a fulltime than what they pay now for halftime. It says they will advertise and interview to find the person and it lists all the things this person will be doing. Most county workers are on computers and when something goes wrong and the person isn't around what are they supposed to do just sit around or go home because the technology guy doesn't work that day? You people who are always bashing the commissioners need to find out what your talking about before sputtering on here with your poison comments. Like you could do better. A couple of people just have a grudge against these commissioners probably because you got voted out or you are a relative of somebody who got voted out or got fired and so you try to use Solomon Words to play your politics.

Once again you miss the point The computer system that cost the taxpayers so much money to have installed, was supposed to save time and money. Then why is it that it just seems to add to the cost of an already bloated local government.Don't really care that it won't cost much more to keep the system running than it already costs. The question is,why is it such a problem to start with? Just a taxpayer...No political interest...No axe to grind...Tired of all the spending.
