Register Now For Coudy Town-Wide Yard Sales

The annual town-wide yard sales in Coudersport are scheduled for Saturday Sept. 5 from 8 am to 4 pm., so start cleaning out your attics, garages, your husband's den and your backporch and dream about all the extra money you can use for Christmas shopping by selling your leftovers.

It's a fun filled annual event, sponsored by the Coudersport Chamber of Commerce and that draws hundreds of people to our community. Shirley Leete reports that 29 Yard Sales are already signed up.

If you want your yard sale on the borough map, contact Shirlee Leete before Friday, August 25 at 5 p.m. My phone numbers are (home) 814-274-8627; (cell) 814-335-2738 and e-mail (which must include "yardsale" in the subject or it won't be opened)- is

Hi Jim- Update- 29 sales listed so far. It was reported in a newspaper last week end that there would be a small fee charged to have your name on the map. I agreed to do this again this year with the understanding that there would be "no"fee for listings. Our economy is bad here in Potter County and I imagine many families are having yard sales to raise extra money for children's school clothes or to help pay their taxes. It's wrong to charge a fee and therefore if the Chamber insists, then I'll pay for it out of my own pocket. I also plan to list each yard sale and the addresses on Solomons words the Monday or Tuesday prior to the yard sale date.

I'm nobody special- just someone who realizes that our economy is terrible and I want to help our residents anyway I can. I do ask that anyone who puts up signs, please remove them at the end of the day. I'd also suggest that if you have a grill- you might want to grill some hotdogs or hamburgs for sale- and get some ice and sell bottled water- everyone rushing from sale to sale needs to rehydrate and I know they'd appreciate it. Thanks to everyone for particapating, and a special thanks to Jim for posting this notice regularly.

Thank you for arranging this for us. Having one unified day is going to help us all, that's for sure.

I am excited and looking forward to a little extra money. We have definitely had our income cut by this economy in a big way (self-employed) and this money will be used to put winter tires on my van.

Thanks again.

There are now 34 sales on my list including one for the Special Olympics at 403 Route 6 West. If you have anything extra you want to donate- this is a terrific cause. And please go to their sale if you can.
