Rep. Causer Updates Budget Problems

Budget Impasse Far From Over As Rendell,

House Democrat Leaders Continue
Tax Hike Push

More than a month after the state budget deadline, a temporary budget that will pay state workers and maintain basic government operations is now in place. But the budget impasse is far from over, as the Rendell Administration and House Democrat leaders continue to insist on spending beyond our means.
House Republicans are committed to a responsible budget that funds the core functions of government, making do with what we have.
After holding state employees hostage for more than a month by withholding their paychecks, the passage of the temporary, stopgap budget exchanges them for a much larger group of hostages:
  • Public schools, higher education institutions and their students who depend on PHEAA grants.
  • Pennsylvanians who rely on social services provided by county governments.
  • Veterans who receive state-related services.
  • Families who are part of the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP).
  • and thousands more.
It’s long past time to get serious about making the tough decisions needed to balance our state budget without a broad-based tax increase. I am hopeful that budget negotiations will resume promptly and, in the coming weeks, we can pass a responsible budget that holds the line on taxes and funds essential services and needs.

I still say we should pay all our taxes to the local government, to insure accountability in spending, and vote on how much tax money to send to the state. The Federal gov. should have to spend valuable resources of time and money crafting carefully worded grant requests that someone in the local courthouse (who would actually get paid a living wage and support their local economy) would put on a ballot to see what projects we the people actually want to support.

Thank you Marty, at least we know you hear "us" and are trying to do as we the tax payers want.

Stop wasteful spending, hold the line and live within a budget like the hard working people of the commonwealth have had to do since the economy tanked!

Please check the comment I just wrote under the article about Marty's meetings for senior citizens. If you aren't one yet, good Lord willing you will be someday!

So- the state WORKERS still aren't being paid, but yet the welfare checks are still going out? Does anyone else see anything wrong with this?

We don't want to make the welfare people mad now do we. I think we should all go on welfare. It seems they have alot of things the working man can't afford. I see them with tatooes, piercings, espensive team jackets, good cell phones (not TRACPHONES)and they all smoke like chimmneys. Some can afford to get there Harley's painted. Now go figure, there is defenatly wrong with this picture. The working person is getting screwed royally.

Let's all go on welfare then we won't have to worry about getting paid because FAT EDDIE will be sure to send us money and we can all sit home and have a gay old time. The only thing wrong with this plan is who is goning to pay all of Rendel and his click when he has no workers to pay taxes. Bet he hasn't thought of that. Lets get these jerks out of office and get more like Marty who fights for the working man.

First I am NOt a Fast Eddie fan!
But you can not blame fast eddie for the welfare problems as we see them, over the past forty years I have dealth with generations of welfare people from the same families. We have paid for cars, televisions, food, medical care and everthing else. This did not start with Rendell and I sure hope somebody can ends this system before it the treasury.
