Roman A. "Romie" Buerk, 84, of 459 Tannery Heights, Emporium died at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport on Monday, (August 10, 2009) night. He was born April 10, 1925 in St. Marys a son of the late Andrew and Mary Eckert Buerk.

On April 12, 1946 in He married the late Ruth Luchs Buerk. Mr. Buerk served with the US Navy, aboard the USS Maddox, during WW II. He was a tool & Die maker at Sylvania and retired from Emporium Specialties in Austin. He was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church and the VFW. He was a devoted father and grandfather.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at St. Mark Catholic Church, 235 East Fourth Street, Emporium on Friday, (August 14, 2009) at 10:30 AM with Rev. Paul S. Siebert, Pastor, as Celebrant. A Military Service will be accorded by the Cameron County Memorial Detail.
Visitation will be at the Barnett Funeral Home on Thursday from 2:00 - 4:30 PM.
Burial will be in the St. Mark Catholic Cemetery, Emporium.
If desired, his family ask that we donate blood, in his memory, to your local Blood Bank.

I worked with Romie at Emporium Specialties ages ago and he was an awesome man to work with, very smart taught me a few things and got me interested at a very young age on machining, it was my passion for years. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. Nikki
