John “Jack” Neil, 76, of Stuart FL., formerly of Bradford, PA

John “Jack” Neil, 76, of Stuart FL., formerly of Bradford, passed away on Friday, September 4th, 2009 at his home in Stuart, FL.

He was born August 16, 1933 in Bradford, he was a son of Charles & Margaret (McCartney) Neil.

He was a 1952 graduate of Bradford High school. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on May 4, 1953 and served until his honorable discharge on May 3, 1955, he served in the Army Reserves until May 31, 1961.

Mr. Neil worked primarily in the construction business, starting out as a roofer, and eventually founding his own business as a building contractor in Bradford.

After retiring in 1986, he wintered in Stuart, FL and spent his summers in Bradford. He remained active well into his later years, earning his Florida Property Management Certification while in his seventies, and was working as a Property Manager in Stuart at the time of his death.

He retained a sharp mind and enjoyed keeping up with world events, politics, business news, and the real estate market.

Hobbies in his younger days included camping, hunting, fishing, boating, snowmobiling and spending time with his family.

Survivors include four daughters: Marcia Neil of Stuart, FL, Susan Neil of Lancaster, PA, Jacalyn (Kevin) Patrick of Stuart, FL, Patricia (David) Bish of Jensen Beach, FL; one granddaughter, Diana Neil, and one brother, Dale Neil of Bradford.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Sharon Kay Neil, and a brother, Donald Neil.

Friends will be received on Saturday September 12, 2009 in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc. 372 East Main St from 10:00am to 11:00am, at which time funeral services will be held with the Rev. David Bunnell, pastor, of the Hill Memorial United Methodist Church officiating. Private committal services will be held in McKean Memorial Park Cemetery.
