Leno M. Vecellio, 86, of 148 Rutherford Run, Bradford, PA

Leno M. Vecellio, 86, of 148 Rutherford Run, Bradford, passed away, Monday, September 28th, 2009 at the Bradford Regional Medical Center.

Born January 31, 1923 in Cooks Falls, NY, he was a son of the late Peter and Rose Vecellio.

On August 13, 1942 he married Cleda F. (Moore) Vecellio who died January 29, 1989, On October 6, 1990 in the Church of the Nazarene he married Alice E. (Shine- Hotelling) Vecellio who survives

Mr. Vecellio was a graduate of St. Bernard High School. He entered the United States Army Air Corp. on August 20, 1943. He was a tail gunner on board a B-17 and flew in battles in Rome-Arno, Appennines, Southern France, Rhineland Air Offensive and Europe Air Combat in the Balkans. He received the European-African-Middle-Eastern Theater Ribbon with one Bronze Star and one Silver Star and the Air Medal with two Bronze Clusters. He was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant on October 9, 1945. He returned home and worked as a milkman, a career that lasted over forty years. He worked for City Creamery, then Bradco, then UpState Milk. He had also worked at Felmont Oil in the 60's. After he retired he worked a short time at Sal's & Son's in the shipping department.

He was a member of the Church of Christ, where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He was instrumental in helping build the Church..

In addition to his wife he is survived by three daughters, Judy (Bill) Smith of Smethport, Jacqueline (Ben) Nuzzo of Smethport, and Jennifer Eisenman of Oil City, two step daughters, Nancy (the late Bill) Williams, and Brenda (Don) Weaver all of Bradford, two step sons Robert Hotelling & (Rose) and Kerry (Becky) Cook also all of Bradford, 16 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, one granddaughter, Lonnie Nuzzo, 3 sisters, Perina Blauser, Elisa Hoffman and Eva L. Pedacchio and one brother, Bruno Vecellio.

Family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, September 29, 2009 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9PM. in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. South Ave. where funeral, committal and Military Honors will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, October 1st, with Rev. Timothy D. Brown pastor of the First Church of the Nazarene officiating.

Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park.
