Gas Company Warns Of New Scam

UGI Warns of Potential Phone Scam
Reading, Pa. - UGI Utilities is warning customers of a potential phone scam.

The company says a customer alerted them to a suspicious message on their answering machine in which the caller requested payment for a UGI bill. The message instructed the customer to mail a specific payment to a post office box in Florida.

UGI says all bill payments are mailed to post office boxes in Pennsylvania. The company says due to privacy laws, it will never leave personal account information on an answering machine or voicemail. A legitimate representative will be able to provide detailed account information - including name, address, and account number - and will not need to request such information.

Any customer who has concerns about a suspicious phone call or message claiming to be from UGI should call the company immediately at 1-800-276-2722.
