Gerald E. "Gerry" Empson, 67, of Ulysses, PA

Gerald E. "Gerry" Empson, 67, of Ulysses, PA, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 in the Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, PA.

Born November 9, 1941, in Ulysses, he was the son of Gerald G. and Ada Bennitt Empson. On August 1, 1959, in West Bingham, PA, he married the former Lena Mead, who survives.

He owned and operated a dairy farm in Ulysses and was employed as an over the road truck driver by Sherwood Enterprises, Inc. in Ulysses for 36 years, retiring October 31, 2007. He was a member of Lewisville Lodge #556 F&AM in Ulysses.

Surviving besides his wife, Lena, are: a son, Steven (Belinda) Empson of Ulysses; two daughters, Gerry Lynn (Allen) Schrock of LaGrange, IN and Jolene (Stanley) Neu of Elmira, NY; a granddaughter; a great-grandson; an aunt, Lula "Polly" Bennitt of Ulysses; three sisters, Shirley (Russell) Nicosia of Owego, NY, Anna Brooke of Blossburg, PA, and Margaret Torok of Ulysses; nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Gertrude Morley; and a brother, Harold A. Empson.

Friends may call Friday, October 30, 2009 from 7:00-9:00 PM and on Saturday, October 31st from 2:00-4:00 PM at the Olney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ulysses, PA, where Funeral Services will be held on Sunday at 2:00 PM. The Rev. John Prouty will officiate. Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

We are all going to miss Gerry and his humor that made our day bright. I just know he's driving that big truck in heaven now.
