Glenn P. Klein, 91, of Catlin Ave., Port Allegany, PA

PORT ALLEGANY- Glenn P. Klein, 91, of Catlin Ave., died Monday (Oct. 26, 2009) at his home with his family by his side.

Born Sept. 7, 1918, in Roulette, he was a son of August F. and Blanche E. Quackenbush Klein. On August 18, 1940, in Wrights, he married Martha L. Stromberg, who survives. They were married 69 years.

Mr. Klein had been employed with Pittsburgh Corning Co. of Port Allegany, as machine shop foreman, retiring after 36 years of service.

He was a lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of Port Allegany High School, Class of 1937. He learned the machinist trade working for Columbian Rope Co. of Auburn, NY.

He was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church of Port Allegany, where he was a past member of the board of directors and member of the church choir. He was also a member of F.&A.M. Liberty Lodge 505, Port Allegany.

Surviving are two sons, Allen C. (Norma) Klein and Bruce R. (Jessica) Klein both of Port Allegany; two daughters, Joyce E. (Cal) Peterson of St. Petersburg, FL, Julie A. (Tim) Baker of Port Allegany; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Victor Klein, Richard Klein, August Klein, Jr.; and a sister, Norma Rees.

Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday (Oct. 29, 2009) in Gethsemane Lutheran Church, with Rev. Thomas Beam, pastor, and Rev. Evon McJunkin co-officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.

Memorials can be made to the Gethsemane Lutheran Church or the Potter County Hospice.
