Lobar Gets $2 Million Contract To Expand Jail

McKean County jail project goes to Lobar

SMETHPORT — The McKean County Commissioners made it official Thursday morning by voting to award Lobar Construction of Dillsburg a contract for the McKean County Jail project.

Chairman Joe DeMott noted that architect Rod Lindsey of RW Larson Architects had reviewed Lobar’s bid and found it to be in compliance with the specifications and requirements. When bids were opened on Oct. 8, Lobar was seen as the apparent low bidder, subject to review for compliance.

Isn't this the very same Lobar that had their hand in on the new gym at NoPo, ya know the one with the leaking roof since it was brand new?! Good luck McKean Co.!

Guess they need to add on so they have room for all the old people the Sheriff beats on in the parking lot.

Save money. Make the inmates build the addition.

Here is a tidbit of information for you folks:

Working on a school/prison or any government building such as those requires that the company awarded the project pays their employees a "prevailing wage rate", which is supposed to be the equivalent of union wages.

This means $28/hr. + for barely skilled laborers working on these jobs.

So, if you've been recently unemployed, maybe you should give Lobar a call :)
