“beloved mother, grandmother & great-grandmother”

Shinglehouse, PA----Marilyn A. Taylor, 76, of Shinglehouse, PA, died Friday, October 30, 2009 in Charles Cole Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit, Coudersport, PA, after a long illness.

Born September 27, 1933 in Eldred, PA, she was a daughter of Harold and Ester Frost Morris. On April 11, 1953 in Eldred, she married Leonard “Pete” Taylor, who died on April 18, 2007.

Mrs. Taylor was a graduate of Eldred High School, class of 1951. She was employed for AVX Corporation in Olean, NY for many years until her retirement.

She loved to shop and she loved her pet cats. Her greatest love was her family, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving are a son, Kenneth H. “Bones” (Sandy) Taylor of Smethport, PA; seven grandchildren: Eric S. (Beth) Howard of Gastonia, NC, Michelle L. (Pete) Black of Coneville, Chris M. “Cub” Taylor of Shinglehouse, Jennie M. (Jamie) Selfridge of Millerton, NY, Chelsie J. Taylor of Smethport, and Kayla L. Taylor and Kyle M. Taylor, both of Coneville; nine great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Michele L. Taylor of Coneville; two sisters-in-law, Dee M. Taylor of Shinglehouse and Rose Marie Sereno of Coneville; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Taylor was predeceased by a son Michael J. “Bear” Taylor who died on June 16, 2007; a sister, Shirley Stokes; and a brother, Dale Morris.

Friends may call Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, PA where funeral services will be held on Monday, November 2, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Randall W. Headley, pastor of the Port Allegany Area Charge of the United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Rathbone Cemetery, Coneville, PA.

Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to a SPCA of the donor’ choice.
