Naomi H. Ruel, 72, of the Olean-Portville Road, Portville, NY

WESTONS MILLS, NY - Naomi H. Ruel, 72, of the Olean-Portville Road, died Saturday (Oct. 3, 2009) at Buffalo General Hospital following a brief illness.

Born March 5, 1937, in Wellsville, NY, she was a daughter of the late Donald T. and Alta J. Taylor Scott. On June 29, 1968, in West Springfield, MA, she married Henry Ruel, who predeceased her June 25, 2000

Naomi lived in West Springfield for 32 years and in the Olean area for 16 years. She attended Bolivar Central School.

She was employed in the restaurant management business for a number of years and at the Everywoman Opportunity Center in Olean, NY, until her recent illness.

Naomi enjoyed staying busy around her house, gardening and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling, with Quebec being her favorite destination. She loved to read, especially books about the Kennedy family and politics. She kept up on current events and fashions and was an avid sports fan who loved the Washington Redskins, Boston Celtics and NASCAR.

Surviving are three sons; Greg (Kathy) Cone of Shinglehouse, PA, Scott Davis of Southwick, MA, and Dave (Roxanne Peterson) Davis of Shinglehouse, PA; three daughters, Pam (David) Myers and Paula Willoughby, both of Shinglehouse, PA, and Joy (Dave) Simone of West Springfield, MA; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother Donald (Cindy) Scott of Portville, NY; three sisters, Carole (Ed) Lundy of Oswayo, PA, Barb (Wilson) Vincent of Shinglehouse, PA and Jane (Paul) Efimetz of Wellsville, NY; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Richard M. Scott.

Friends may call at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home, Inc., Wellsville, NY, on Tuesday (Oct. 6, 2009) from noon to 2 p.m., at which time funeral services will be held. Her grandson, Cody Wood, will officiate.

Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellsville, NY.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
