Shinglehouse Man To Face Court After Incidents

Shinglehouse Man Charged
A Shinglehouse man was charged last week with several crimes, in two different incidents, after an investigation by State Police and Shinglehouse Police Chief Brad Buchholtz.

Michael G. Frederick, 22, of 307 West Academy Street Apartment 14, Shinglehouse, PA, was charged with Prohibited Offensive Weapons, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Selling or Furnishing Liquor or Malt or Brewed Beverages to Minors, and Unsworn Falsification in one incident and Criminal Conspiracy, Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition, and Receiving Stolen Property in the other incident.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, in the first incident, Chief Buchholtz was alerted by a member of the Shinglehouse Fire Department that while on a fire call at the Oswayo Apartments, he found there were shopping carts and an odor of marijuana inside Frederick's apartment.

Chief Buchholtz and two members of the PA State Police went to Frederick's apartment to interview him. He was cooperative and allowed them to search his apartment. The search revealed a sawed off .22 caliber rifle, a small amount of marijuana, and numerous empty cans of Busch light beer.

Frederick said the gun was brought into the apartment the evening before by Ben Gutshall, and given to Frederick. He stated that Ben also bought two 30 packs of beer. Frederick stated that Tim Wambold, Tony Mahon, and Ethan Turner, all being under the age of 21, did consume some of the beer.

All three of the underage persons admitted to consuming the beer and that Frederick knew they were under 21.

Upon further interview of everyone present, Wambold, Mahon, Turner, Gutshall, and Tory Appleby, they state that the .22 rifle was present in the apartment when they arrived there. They also state that Frederick became very intoxicated and shot himself in the head and shoulder, and shot others with a BB gun pistol.

At some point after that, Frederick took possession of the .22, loaded it, and started waving it around. They told him to put it away and he did, and then grabbed a handful of .22 shells and swallowed them.

Chief Buchholtz alleges that Frederick gave him a false statement on where the beer came from and where the gun came from.

In the other incident, Chief Buchholtz charged Frederick is alleged to have conspired with Donovan Freece, in the early morning hours of July 19, 2009 to commit the crime of Theft By Unlawful Taking.

Frederick and Freece worked together to take two plastic cups, owned by Bruce Whitman, that were being used to hold Whitman's tip money. The cups contained $100.00 and both individuals shared the money.

Frederick was summoned to appear on November 9, 2009 at 1:30 pm for preliminary hearings before District Judge Barbara Easton in Shinglehouse, PA.

His mother graduated from Shinglehouse....somewhere around 85, 86, 87. He claimed he was from "around" Olean.... who knows exactly

For all of you mentioning they should get a job......... yes they probably should, however, Tony just graduated and him and his family are nice people. Why should these "young men" get a job when there are plenty of people in Shinglehouse who are adults and dont work and have never worked a day in thier lives??? So that they can support the welfare bums? He lives at home and dont tell me that none of you ever drank before 21.... you did! I wouldnt work either if I didnt have a child, why pay for people like his neighbors who just have kid after kid and collect welfare for them all..... why not tell some of those kind of people to get out and get a job and be a little bit of a role model for some of the kids in town? Because they ENJOY flashing there ACCESS card. Maybe we should ALL go on welfare, pop out a bunch of kids, get people (state paid) to come in and raise them for you, collect fooders, and cash, LIHeap, Medical coverage (incase your kid farts side ways, you can run to the ER for free!) AND lets not forget, we could even get paid (by the state) to drive our kid to the ER and EVERY doctors appt.

So where do you think all that "STATE" money comes from??? Enjoy work tomorrow, I am sure I wont now!

I think she was an import too. Same with Wambat..never heard of that name before. Where do these people come from? NY? high taxes pushing them in Pa?

Fredrick of Hollywood I think I read a book about them...or at least looked at it.

If they are criminals I would rather pay for their stay in a cell than welfare. Until we get someone who is willing to hand out the max sentence on these type of charges nothing will change. Hand out the max for a few years and they will either fly right or move out.

Tim Wambold,

It is not right that your name got brought into this?!?! First of all your were there at the scene and admitted drinking these "beverages" and you are an adult, which if you didnt know is anyone who is above 17 years old. If you didnt fail some grades in high school you would know this.

To all you who are arguing about which town is most troublesome or whether this or that is a "Shinglehouse name", I'd like to say: WHO CARES? I don't understand. What difference does it make where someone is from?
