Sadly, it's now being reported that 12 are confirmed dead and 31 wounded.

My source has confirmed for me that Major Hasan was a Medical Doctor. What a shame to have someone who was assigned to save lives decided to take them.

It just goes to show, you obviously cannot trust arabs even ones that are supposed to be on our side in the American military. Its sad to say I guess we should have learned to screen our arab soldiers/officers (as this man was a Major)a little more extensively. You would think after the terrorist attacks of 9/11/01 we would have learned to watch for individuals like this. Its very sad to hear that 12 of our American soldiers are now deceased and 31 of them are wounded because of a blatant act of horrific violence. May god be with those and the families of the deceased and wounded...

To whoever wrote the post at 7:22 p.m. you are ignorant. You can trust Arabs just as much as you can trust Americans. Some are good, some are not. Get real.

@anonymous (7:22 PM) - The doctor was an American born citizen (born in Virginia) , not an Arab - one who may or may not have converted to Islam at some point, and may or may not have changed his name, possibly as part of that conversion..

So, just because his last name is Hasan, doesnt make him an Arab..

I see enough of that sort of "oh his name sounds arabic, he must be one of those nutty arabs" often enough.. I thought the same thing (sort of) about my new doctor when I first went to them, only to find out he was actually from Peru.. and was a devout catholic... despite the name that seemed so very Arabic. Names are, after all, just names.

Hey 6:04, what's this "my source" stuff?
You must be a REAL INSIDER there.
Or just a real wannabe dildine!

8:32 I understand your point on the stereotypical his name sounds arabic im actually going off the news which had a recording of a reporter for fox news talking to this individuals cousin of the same last name who said yes he was born american but is and has always been of the Islam faith and that he had not converted to a Muslim. i agree i may have been a little harsh with the stereotype and understand that it isn't always the case. my point is that even if it would have been a white american or any other american i would feel the same way about what that individual did...

your source is a lil off there, mr/ms I have inside info.. He was not actually a he was an Army psychiatrist. Guess you need a better source..

Either way, my thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families, it is definately a tragedy!!!

He is a muslim of Jordanian descent, no matter what his faith he was a worthless coward that slaughtered innocent people

Well here we are on Friday Morning and a lot more information has come out.

Reports have him making negative Ameican comments, and pro Islam comments. Posting on Islam websites justifing killing of americans. I dont care if he is White, Black, American Born or not, if this information turns out to be true he is a terrorist in my book.

The bad thing is, they knew he was a problem, and probably coudn't do much about it because he would use the race card. so in the end there are 13 dead and maybe more to come.

Sad, Sad...

He believed that Muslims shouldnt attack Muslims and tried everything in his power to try avoid deployment to the middle east. That should have sparked some sort of clues as to he was not very focused on what his commands and duties were to America as being a Soldier in the Military. I believe the Military should screen their recruits alot better in the psychological department and religious beliefs. This person was never in combat so he has no reason to use the excuse Post Tramatic Stress. Just execute him like he did all them soldiers he killed and hurt. Doctor or Not he knew his place in this world and he took measures into his own hands.

DITTO 9:18

I agree with poster 9:18, the Army should have done something to prevent this. HOWEVER, the real blood is on the hands of George Bush! HE is the one who started this war, and the horrible effects will be felt for years to come. This war is senseless, meaningless. Bring all our troops home and let Afghanistan and Iraq fend for themselves. We have no business telling other countries what kind of government we should have, and all of this never should have happened. President George Washington made a decree that we were NEVER to fight on foreign soil. So much for that.

It amazed me that some people still find petter BS to argue about in times like this. Its at times like this everyone should be coming together and sending out their thoughts and prayers to the loved ones of those lost in this terrible tragedy, not bickering over the petty details.

Poster 12:65

I agree you can say it started with Mr. Bush, but dont leave out Mr. Obama, he very well could have pulled the guys from Iraq and brought them home, He didnt he sent them to Afghanistan.

It has been long enough, people and can quit blaming Bush, without adding Obama to that list now.

Another Mass shooting this one in Orlando Florida. Apparently 1 Killed, 7 injured so far. Execute him too. These people want to kill people, let them be killed by the same. Stand him up and shoot him. Have 10 people with crosshairs on him to just go ballistic on him till he is dead. Who cares if his body looks like blood covered swiss cheese. Its the price you should pay for taking another life.
