A Horseheads couple has filed a $5 million lawsuit against a gas drilling services company that located next to their home and has become a constant source of noise, diesel fumes and other inconveniences.

The suit was filed this week in Chemung County's state Supreme Court by David and Deborah Harnas, 145 Old Ithaca Road, against Gas Field Specialists Inc., located in The Center at Horseheads industrial park. just sell the house to the gas company.

They should move to Ulysses and join their friends.

Sounds like someone doesn't want to work! Maybe I should sue RAM, Wayne Paving and all of the semi truck drivers who drive past my house every day. I can't handle it:P The problem is there are lawyers out there who won't tell people that their law suits are frivolous and wasting the courts time and tax payers money. All they see are $$$$$ signs, too!

I moved here -and absolutely love it- for the peace and quiet and for a really great place to raise my kids. Now I'm looking at having a gas well right behind my yard due to my neighbor selling out. Believe me. It really sucks when your dream is destroyed.

8:05:00 AM...You said it "YOU MOVED HERE"... your neighbor sold out?

Sold out what?

You mean leased out their rights that they bought and paid for and own?

Another woe is me!

Yeah, 10:00 they leased out their rights "that they bought and paid for and own." Which they didn't - they inherited it. That doesn't make having drilling in your own backyard any better. I hope you get to have the joy of a frac pond and well drilling in YOUR backyard. Oh wait, woe is me. It's ok for everyone ELSE to have to deal with it. But I'm guessing there's not any drilling going on right where you live.

Is there a problem with people "moving here?" I've lived all over and believe it or not I chose to live here because it's a wonderful place and I pay plenty of taxes and I volunteer and I shop locally -which is a lot more than I can say for many, not all, but many, of the people who were born here. Yes, I know, now you'll tell me to move again... Believe me, that's a simple option. Too bad I love it here so much.
